Great Purchasing Experience from Out of Province - Ken, Vancouver Island
Although from B.C., I was searching online ads for a 2004-2006 Chevrolet SSR. Finding one at Scougall Motors, I contacted Allen to get a verbal assessment of the 2004 SSR they had for sale. Based on his comments, I made the 2 hour trip from Calgary in a rental car. The SSR was even better in person than its online pictures. Following a test drive and modest price negotiating, I purchased the vehicle. Near pristine condition, 12 years old with only 20,000 km and at a price point that was fair. The planets had aligned!
And now the fun began. While Allan arranged for an Interprovincial Safety Inspection by the service department and a temporary transit permit through the local Registry Office, I scrambled to arrange temporary insurance so I could drive the SSR from Fort Macleod back to BC. It all came together seamlessly!
Kudos to Allen and all other Scougall staff, including General Manager David Arnoldussen, who went the extra mile to make the whole transaction both pleasurable and painless.
When I picked up the vehicle, it was fully fueled, serviced, detailed to perfection and ready to drive 1300 km to its new home on Vancouver Island. The vehicle performed flawlessly and elicited 'thumbs up' and smiles all along the route home. Me ... smiles also, with both the purchasing experience, the vehicle itself and the exceptional level of service provided by Allan and staff at Scougall Motors.
A great purchasing experience that even included a followup call from Scougall after I got home! Does it get any better than this?

Think twice about going there if your vehicle is not a GM product. Service manager and parts dept. clerk were very rude when they saw we had a Ford. We decided to go elsewhere for the simple oil change. Have had it done at other GM dealers and customer service was excellent.
Wrongful diagnosis!!! Zero stars!!! - Wrongful Diagnosis Victim
My son was travelling through Alberta when his car started smoking and overheating. Can Bow Motors tried to charge him nearly $1600 to replace every intake manifold gasket in his Chevy Malibu without confirming there was anything wrong. Besides the quote being completely overpriced, the diagnosis was 100% wrong. Only because they wanted $1600 for an $800-$1000 job did we question them. We thought that was excessive and we paid them $120 for the combustion test and diagnosis and towed our car to another shop. The other shop completed one simple test, they noticed a cracked coolant reservoir cap, replaced it and filled the car up with antifreeze. They ran it for 30 minutes with no leak!! Car fixed for less than $100!!! AND HE DROVE IT ALL THE WAY TO WINNIPEG!!!
I called Can Bow to report their incompetence and demanded our $120 back because they did tests that were totally unnecessary and incorrect! The first thing they should have done was check the system visually, including the cap and hoses, fill it up with coolant and check for leaks. Because we were not onsite to question them, they went ahead and performed the last, and most expensive, test on the list and wanted to replace all the gaskets even though they could not confirm they were broken. We could have spent $1600 to rip the engine apart and replace the intake gaskets for no reason.
THEY REFUSED OUR REFUND!!!! $120 plus towing charges for a kid travelling though Alberta for nothing!!
