Some of the salespeople were stereotypical used car salesmen, most we dealt with were helpful but only interested in making the sale. And then there was Mike. We initially spent an entire morning with him going through all the Capital vehicles that were likely candidates and while he was juggling us and other potential customers, he always had time to answer our questions, educate us on pros and cons, etc. He was refreshingly upfront and straightforward when showing us Capital's vehicle options. We never felt pressured into anything we didn't want and he really went out of his way to make us feel good about our buying decision. When it came down to brass tacks, he did most of the negotiating on our behalf before we arrived for our appointment (which was greatly appreciated as we were not looking forward to wasting any more time). It certainly felt like he went to the mat for us and in the end he got us into a vehicle for the price we had budgeted, but that we initially discounted as being too expensive. We will most certainly share our positive experience with friends and family and hope to do business with Mike again. More

Perhaps my fault for not insisting on a thorough explanation of the deal, Traded in a three year old caravan for a 2016 model. Wanted the rear air conditioning feature/ heat, which the new one had but the old one didn't. Once in the dealership, same sales haggling applied, but I expected that. I have purchased at least 9 new vehicles in the past 15 years and this last was the worst experience. Once we picked up our vehicle, there were a number of issues. The first issues was the transfer of the equipment we had in the old van to the new van. We took possession at the dealership in the rain. I asked the rep (not the original sales person), if we could transfer in the service bay, as it was pouring outside. He responded that he would have to check as "thats where they make their money", and we might be an inconvenience (not his exact words). I took it upon myself to take my family into the service bay to ask the person working in there if it was OK to park both vehicles inside to move child car seats and the like, which he allowed. Driving home and driving over the next two days we identified a number of issues. The windshield wipers were not as fast as the van we just traded in, and the the vehicle shook steadily at around the 100km speed (not violently but noticeable none the less). There was a significant scratch on the driver side door. Last but not least, the headlights were actually wired (or connected), improperly, so that the running light on one side and the high beam on the other were on at the same time, as opposed to both of the SAME lights being on at the same time. I called the salesperson about the scratch on the door the day of the sale, which most probably was not caught during vehicle transfer as it was raining when we picked up the car. I even sent the salesperson a picture of the scratch. He told me he would get back to me on Monday (two days time). The sales person did not contact me as he stated he would. I then contacted the service dept, who advised that they would need to see the scratch to verify if they would approve the fix. I also made it a point when we dropped off the vehicle to inform of the shaking, wipers, and the obvious headlight issue. Really... i can see how one might argue that the shaking, wipers were not significantly detectable (which they did in the service report afterwards), but the scratch was definitely noticeable. Once again, it could be argued that we had the car in our possession when the scratch occurred (they didn't come right out and say this). However, the lights were as obvious to anyone who might have looked when passing the car on to a customer. As I dropped off the vehicle for service, i was told to proceed to the rental car counter. Now, I can see where one might argue that there are certain synergies to be achieved by having a car rental service on sight, but i thought it was a joke. Sure, have the rental service available, but not at the expense of a loaner car program. So, i proceeded to give the rental guy my personal information, driver's licence, and credit card so that he could hold $150 as insurance against the car I was forced to take because I had to bring my brand new car in for service. At this point I had spent too much wasted time on this whole experience. Before picking up the rental car (I truly took the whole "$150 deposit" ordeal as an insult), i found the original sales agent to ask why he had not contacted me as he said he would. He gave the excuse that his data plan on his phone was acting up, a ridiculous excuse considering the amount of phones they must have at the dealership. He did try to get me a loaner after I complained about the impeding $150 charge, but was only successful in procuring a Chrysler 200, which was not logical given the pregnant wife and three kids I had to taxi around with me to deal with all of this. He did mention that they would top up the gas tank of my vehicle when I came back to pick it up after the service was complete. The service was performed, and the notes in the service report somewhat contradict what was told to my wife when she picked up the vehicle (for example, we were told they fixed the wipers, but the service report states that nothing had to be done and that they functioned as is). And of course, the gas tank was not topped up (even after the sales person said it would be), even after a significant amount of kms had been added to the vehicle (probably to the body shop and back, and to test the shaking after - interestingly, the odometer in/out of the service invoice reads 748/748). When all was said and done, no additional services provided free of charge ("hey sorry about all this, how about we throw in a few free oil changes?). Too much time spent on an issue that never should have existed. Follow up on part of the sales person was terrible. Lots of opportunity for improvement for Capital Dodge UPDATE - dealer stated they would contact me to try and "make things right". Almost a month later, I have received no such phone call or attempt to address issues. Furthermore, the headlights of the vehicle, although now "wired" correctly, were still out of alignment. I took the vehicle to a different dealership and they did the work required. More
