I purchased a used car from Capital with the I purchased a used car from Capital with the understanding that the consolidation loan on my old car through my local bank (this part is importan I purchased a used car from Capital with the understanding that the consolidation loan on my old car through my local bank (this part is important) would be paid out. I purchased the car on the 16th of November and by the 27th I was still showing the loan in my bank statement. I went into the dealership and asked why and the finance person I spoke to informed me that the cheque to pay out the old loan was sent to Toronto TD auto Finance (a different entity from my local branch) and had not even been written till the 22nd. I called TD auto finance to see what they knew about it and the woman who looked into my account confirmed that there had been a note attached stating that the old loan was a consolidation loan (not an auto finance loan) which meant the dealership knew that the cheque should have gone to the branch instead. As a result of this mistake I have been left paying both loans until the cheque is redirected to my local branch. This is a minor annoyance BUT when I spoke to the finance member who handled it she claimed that I had never told her the refinance wasn't a TD auto loan despite her own notes confirming otherwise in the finance application to TD auto finance. She refused to acknowledge the mistake. Since the over-payment of the old loan will be deposited into my account I shouldn't be out too much money as a result of her mistake but I didn't even get an apology, just an evasion. Very unhappy. The salesman was great though; very patient and willing to show me a variety of vehicles with the qualities I had been looking for. Excellent customer service and friendliness, poor handling of the account and unwillingness to admit a mistake on finance's end. As a result I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone else UNLESS they have arranged other financing. More
