CUSTOMER BEWARE! !! I left Toyota on the Trail today with a very sour taste in my mouth after one of the most disgusting experiences I have ever had with a salesper !! I left Toyota on the Trail today with a very sour taste in my mouth after one of the most disgusting experiences I have ever had with a salesperson and a dealership. My level of disgust exceeds even that which one normally expects for a used car lot rather than a large brand name dealership. My wife and I found an online ad for a used vehicle that was posted by the dealership, both on their own website and on AutoTrader so we chose to go in and check the vehicle out. We walked into the dealership and found a salesperson who was not busy who was ready to help us. We told the salesperson what vehicle we were interested in and asked to be able to go out on the lot to look at it. They insisted we sit down and that they would show us all of the paperwork before we went out to see the vehicle. After showing us a basically clean CARFAX report and multiple inspection reports with no notable details along with showing details in their system about how the vehicle had been on the lot for nearly six months and that they were ready to deal, the salesperson insisted on seeing and photocopying my driver's license before going out to see the vehicle in case we wanted to go for a test drive without returning inside first. After the salesperson has collected all my personal information, they go to get the keys from the sales manager before returning to tell us that the vehicle is being "wholesaler" because it is not up to their standards for sale on their lot (note the clean inspection and CARFAX reports mentioned above) and therefore is not available for sale. We pushed to be able to view the vehicle as we felt there was something fishy about all of the clean reports and nearly six months on the lot and suddenly it wasn't up to standards for sale. The salesperson finally relented and went to get the keys before returning to say the sales manager says the vehicle was no longer on their lot and had been sent to another dealership as it requires a new engine!!! All this after showing us the clean inspection reports!!! This clear bait and switch attempt by posting this used vehicle, providing the positive documentation, and collecting my personal information before suddenly saying it was wholesaled for needing too much work (a new engine) to be saleable. The false advertising, the bait and switch, the blatant information grab, and the reigning ignorance (I don't believe that salesperson couldn't see the inventory status when he was able to look up and show all of the prior false inspections).
