November 2021 I met with a sales rep to discuss trading in my 2019 KIA Soul. The 2016 KIA Sorento presented to me met all my family’s needs. However, the thing my family most needed was to stay within budget. I have a toddler and soon I will be on maternity leave with baby #2 and on a fixed income for 18 months. I was very clear from the beginning on what I could afford. They tried to get me to put $1500 down and increase bi-weekly payments by 30 dollars. ‘It’s not that much” they said. Well to me $30.00 bi-weekly is actually a bag of groceries to feed my family. I declined all the offers and told them I was comfortable to stay in my Kia Soul if it meant I would be remaining in my budget. They told me I would never get into a bigger vehicle if I wasn’t willing to pay more bi-weekly. My response “that is fine, I have a reliable car, sure it is small but I can make it work until I am in a position to pay more.” In the end they offered me this: I would put no money down, my bi-weekly payments would increase by only 2 dollars. I was comfortable with this. I have never traded in a vehicle before. I was a bit confused about how it would all work. I tried to ask the right questions and grasp what I was getting into to the best of my ability. I asked “what will happen to my old loan?” they responded “we will pay off your old loan and you will get a new loan”. Throughout my meeting they used the words “loan” and “lien” interchangeably and looking back I should have asked for more clarification. In the end I was under the impression that the entirety of my old loan was being paid off. I would have a new loan, I estimated in my mind it might would be between $21000-$25000 , a sizable loan for me but one I was comfortable with. Finance came through, insurance was called, and the transfer was made. I went back into finance for my final meeting. Looking over the final papers I saw the number $32000. It turns out that there was around $5000 from my old loan that was going to be transferred to my new loan. This was never clearly communicated to me at any point. Had it been I would have remained in my older vehicle. Maybe if I was better at math or more knowledgeable about car trade-ins I would have known this. The point is I wasn’t and these ‘professionals’ were supposed to be guiding me. I asked questions, apparently not the right ones. Right away I asked if that was my total loan and told them I was not comfortable with that amount. I told them I didn’t want to go through. They made it seem like it was too late for me to back out. I don’t know enough to say whether or not this was actually the case, but things felt pretty final. I broke down and started crying. Now it was 1 o’clock in the afternoon. I had been at Kia since 8am. I had waited over an hour for the financing to go through. I was starving. I was exhausted. I just wanted to leave. I guess they felt a little bad because they told me my next service would be on the house. I finished signing everything and left. It is hilarious to me that they thought a 100$ (approx.) oil change could negate the $5000 I basically just wasted. In the end I was happy enough with the quality of my new car. It is better suited to my family. I chalked it up to an expensive learning experience. In a few years when it comes time to upgrade I have learned enough to NOT return to Harris KIA Nanaimo. More

Very positive interaction with Dave Bare and Sara Poirier. Dave worked hard to get me what I needed, and Sara helped out when I picked up the car. Poirier. Dave worked hard to get me what I needed, and Sara helped out when I picked up the car. More
BUYER BEWARE!! 👎🏼👎🏼I had the worst possible BUYER BEWARE!! 👎🏼👎🏼 I had the worst possible experience with these guys and would give a -5 star rating if I could. In my opinion, they do not BUYER BEWARE!! 👎🏼👎🏼 I had the worst possible experience with these guys and would give a -5 star rating if I could. In my opinion, they do not give the Kia brand a good name. Outside of this negative review, I will also be reporting to the Vehicle Sales Authority on their lack of disclosure. As a first time buyer (Of a non used vehicle, for the start of a family) I was sold a demo vehicle at MSRP and was not told of its status at any point through out the entirety of the negotiation process— despite the numerous occasions to do so. Even when wondering what a DEMO was out loud, I was met with silence by their Sales Consultant. One of their Sales Managers kept calling me “brother” while throwing out random compliments and clearly wanted to make the sale, likely because demo vehicles are much harder to move and seeing me as the inexperienced type of customer to prey on. Knowing I had time constraints and was from out of town I’m sure helped as well. The woman in charge of finance offered me an extended factory warranty at a “discount” due to loyalty from my last vehicles lost coverage plan on trade in. After I accepted and when the time finally came for my projected APR (Which rose two times, finally settling @4.99%) as I was leaning towards declining, she told me “you will probably trade it in before the term is finished anyway.” So why would I NEED the extended warranty for an extra $2998 in the first place then?? Despite my gut feeling I accepted the deals in place because I liked the car, only in hindsight did I see the many warning signals. When I went to the GM for resolution to let him know that I felt a lot of buyers remorse due to their lack of disclosure, he accused me of not being able to afford the vehicle and kept up the premise that the vehicle was not used. Despite admitting that he himself had in fact been using it as his personal vehicle… Every time I get into this vehicle I will remember their nauseating treatment to me the customer. I would advise any person thinking of starting a family, elderly or young and inexperienced to stay FAR away and to give your business to a different dealership instead. I will be trading this vehicle as soon as reasonably possible, but in the mean time I will be stuck with the bad memory of this experience as I drive to work each day or buckle my soon to be newborn into their car seat. I love Kia products thats why I chose to stay with them when I decided to upgrade my vehicle. The process itself went quite smoothly, however, I was at the delays delarship for 7 hours getting the deal com when I decided to upgrade my vehicle. The process itself went quite smoothly, however, I was at the delays delarship for 7 hours getting the deal completed. Still have not been able to sign in with my new Uvo account because "ownership" was not changed over until 3 days later, and even than its still not working properly. Overall I do like my new Kia Sportage. More

The service I received at Kia was top notch. Sara, Marcelo, and the rest of the team went above and beyond to score me an awesome deal on a brand new Forte5 GT!
