Mr. Pelto/ Our team attempted to assist you the best we could with pricing, including a 15% discount on the full amount of the parts and the associated labor. We also supplied you with a complimentary loaner vehicle during the duration of the service. Typically, there would have been a charge for that car. We use the most current and up to date Subaru pricing book for parts and accessory prices. These feeds are daily and adjusted daily based on Subaru of America parts book changes. Online websites, including our affiliate websites, may advertise something less expensive on occasion for marketing purposes - but, it is required that you purchase it online and be responsible for the appropriate handling and shipping fees. On some parts - and Subaru of America is very clear on this - the online parts purchases do not come with the Subaru parts warranty - so, you would be responsible for the full repair in the event of a corresponding failure. We attempted to educate you on these issues as best as we could and provided you with every accommodation - inclusive of a combination of a discount and a complimentary loaner vehicle.

Hi, I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I was not made aware of all the points you speak to when I was there but can't say they address my fundamental concern, which is transparency in pricing, which could benefit others when they are deciding where to have service performed. The discount you provided is appreciated and I mentioned it in my post. As to loaner vehicles you advertise them as complimentary which is actually the reason I go to you, please don't hide the charge elsewhere, that feels deceptive. I do not dispute you can charge whatever you want based on your need for profit or any other reason, not a problem. However I think people should know when they are paying above the MSRP so they can make informed decisions. It feels like a predatory practice to charge way above MSRP for a part and state in the invoice that it is the retail price. You are an automotive dealer and this is well established for car sales. Would you sell me a car for above MSRP and tell me I was paying retail? As to the parts warranty I am surprised to hear that Premier or Subaru would not warranty "some" parts purchased from you from defect...and if I am paying extra for failure insurance of a part, I think I should have a choice.

Our company is up front with pricing - all the time and have for more than 24 years. It is one of the reasons that we are the only Subaru dealer approved by the AAA of Connecticut for Automotive Service. We do not engage in predatory pricing whatsoever, and, use the factory price book provided to us - and it is automatically downloaded on a daily basis. Our loaner cars are complimentary to those individuals who have purchased vehicles from us - and, your vehicle was purchased elsewhere. We waived that charge for you to assist you with the repair. We always stand behind our work - but, Subaru of America is clear as to what is necessary to effectuate a "parts warranty" with a part purchased online. We, obviously, do not control their protocols. As you did complete the repairs with us - with parts provided by us - on a repair order - the repair is covered by a 12 month/unlimited mileage warranty - good nationwide.

Your attempts to educate me have not fallen on deaf ears. What I am hearing is that corporate Subaru (not Premier) has a two tier OEM parts system, sold associated with their dealerships (your website links to "our online parts store"), for pickup at your parts counter, with competitive market prices on parts, that you cannot use because they can't be warrantied, which is outside your control. Instead you must utilize different OEM parts at a much higher price, obtained from the same parts department, based on a non-public daily changing Subaru price book. You have been honorable for 24 years, as testified by AAA, and you are not just using the same parts from the same place at a large markup, claiming to be sold at MSRP. In that context, my apologies for misunderstanding the web of parts supply and profit in the Subaru ecosystem...valuable info, thanks

Very comfortable waiting for my car to be serviced. Was done earlier than expected. Only wish my name and car were not so often confused with my husband's name and car (also a Subaru)! More
