I scheduled an appointment with Shaw GMC to have the oil changed on my 2012 GMC Terrain on March 11th. When I arrived, one of the service associates assisted me. I provided him with a $50 coupon and asked w changed on my 2012 GMC Terrain on March 11th. When I arrived, one of the service associates assisted me. I provided him with a $50 coupon and asked what the total cost would be. He advised that he would provide the final price at the end of the service because he could not apply the coupon at that moment. After waiting approximately one hour and fifteen minutes for what was supposed to be a basic oil change, I was presented with a bill totaling $162. When I reviewed the invoice, I noticed that although the coupon had been applied, there was an additional inspection charge of approximately $100 that I had never authorized. I questioned the associate about why this inspection was performed without my approval. The same individual who initially assisted me stated that he had mentioned they would do a “walk around” of the vehicle, which was never explained as an additional paid service. At no point did I consent to any work other than an oil change. I requested to speak with a manager immediately. After waiting about 10 minutes, the same associate returned without the manager and informed me that the inspection charge had been waived. This situation was extremely concerning, as the work had been added without my authorization. When I booked the appointment, I was very clear that I only wanted an oil change. I originally purchased this vehicle brand new from this dealership in 2011, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst customer service experiences I have had at a dealership. The lack of transparency and the attempt to add services without proper authorization was both frustrating and embarrassing. In the end, I paid $102 for the oil change. Based on this experience, I will not be returning to Shaw GMC for service and would not consider purchasing another vehicle from this dealership in the future. More
