I visited Maranello BMW due to repeated engine‑overheating warnings, despite the coolant being full. After researching the issue, I discovered that Transport Canada had issued a recall for engine‑overheating warnings, despite the coolant being full. After researching the issue, I discovered that Transport Canada had issued a recall for this exact defect on my model. Unfortunately, BMW Canada only included certain VINs in the recall, and mine was excluded—even though my vehicle has the same failure and the same components involved. The dealership initially quoted over $3,000 for the coolant pump and transformer replacement. Jack from the service department was professional and genuinely tried to help, reducing the cost to around $2,400. I asked to meet with the Service Manager to discuss the situation further, but the manager was not available. Jack told me the manager would call me, but I never received any follow‑up. BMW Canada also refused any goodwill assistance, which was extremely disappointing given the safety nature of the defect and the existing recall. It’s difficult to understand why Transport Canada allows manufacturers to decide which VINs qualify when the issue is identical across vehicles. My experience with Jack was positive, but the lack of follow‑up from management and BMW Canada’s handling of this recall situation left me dissatisfied. Owners deserve consistent and fair treatment when safety defects are involved. More
