It is very unfortunate that this problem happened on this customer's 1st new vehicle purchase. The check engine light was setting as a false code and was not creating any drivabilty concerns. We as a dealer did everything we could to expedite the repair process. We provided a loaner for the entire time that this customer was without her car. The comments below do not state this, therefore it makes it look like Hyundai Canada and Guelph Hyundai left our customer without any options. Hyundai Canada provided a new program that was uploaded to the vehicle on March 1st. This program was sent specifically to repair this customer's concern. The car is certainly not a lemon. I have worked with 3 major manufacturers in the past 27 years and I feel that Hyundai Canada produced this repair (computer program) in a very timely manner. This vehicle is a new 2012 model and a brand new design. With all new vehicle model's these updates will happen. Like I said, I have seen it many times with the other manufacturers and I will say that Hyundai was the fastest in producing a program that repaired the vehicle. The vehicle is now repaired and completely detailed. Response submitted by Dan.

It is our responsability as a dealer to inform our customer's of the required maintenance that is suggested by Hyundai Canada. The cabin and air filter's are in the schedule to be replaced at 12 months or 24 000 KM's. We actually pull the filters and show our customer's if they are needing replacement. The customer has the option of having them replaced at the dealership. The brakes are also recommended to be serviced at 12 months or 24 000 KM's by Hyundai Canada. Servicing the brakes is a maintenance recommendation and not a warranty requirement, however the brakes will wear prematurely when they are not serviced. These recomendations are for the consumers to save money in the long run. If we do not suggest these scheduled services then we are not doing our job as a service provider for our customers. Please remember that all maintenance is optional, but some services that are declined could affect the manufacturer's warranty.
