I've been taking my 2012 VW Golf to GP for service for the past few years. I called to ask if I needed to replace my timing belt due to a recent event where I had a hard time starting my car. I asked i the past few years. I called to ask if I needed to replace my timing belt due to a recent event where I had a hard time starting my car. I asked if I brought my vehicle in … a three hour drive with time change, would they have the parts if it needed to be replaced. They said, no, they don't stock parts for old vehicles. My car is not that old. If I wanted to have the parts in stock and didn't use them, it would be a 20% restocking fee. Not once did anyone ask me any questions to see it was most likely the timing belt. I called Prince George and the service person asked me a bunch of questions and then said, it's definitely not your timing belt, likely the battery. He also said they stock one of the parts for most vehicles, common kits, etc. I was prepared to spend between $2,ooo - $2,500.00 on a repair job but they can't spring to bring in the parts! Even if it turns out I didn't need them now, I would need the job done eventually. I'm rating the individuals higher because it's not their policy, they just have to follow it. More

Disappointing Service Department VW car was taken in for a computer scan to trouble shoot heater. They did a “safety inspection” without being asked and reported $3200 worth of work t VW car was taken in for a computer scan to trouble shoot heater. They did a “safety inspection” without being asked and reported $3200 worth of work that “must be done immediately because it is not safe”. This included brakes metal on metal and 1mm pad left and LCA bushings loose, swaybar links loose. The reality of the car is the sway bar links were replaced 2 months prior, the car had a 4 wheel alignment at a different shop 2 weeks prior (no problems or adjustments done) and the thinnest pad on the car is at 5mm (I measured). They wrote on the invoice “customer understands car is not safe to drive” right be for they asked me to sign the invoice, just to rub in their “safety inspection” to attempt to get me to approve the work. To top it off the key remote didn’t work when they gave me the keys back, and the couldn’t figure out why. I’m looking forward to the day I no longer on a VW. Be aware of their less than honest tactics in the service dept. More
