Hi, My name is Patrick Kiwan, the General Sales Manager. I have come back from my vacation and have reviewed your complaint in regards to the oil change package. Our oil change package is a Dilawri incentive and would normally need be done at one of our two locations. However, I understand there may have been some miscommunication in regards to the transferability of this package. Our Rust Protection, and Warranty protections are covered nation wide. In addition, I am informed that you have been contacted by Isko and we rectified the situation by refunding the cost of the oil change package. I would like to thank you for your understanding and offer my complete support if you have anymore questions or concerns. Thank you so much and have a great 2015! Patrick Kiwan General Sales Manager Bank Street Kia 613-736-7022 pkiwan@bankstreetkia.com

Ramona responded

Mr Kiwan, there were absolutely NO miscommunications in regards to the transferability of our oil package. We were not even going to take your rust proof package, the added free 25 oil changes pkg insentive is what made us decide on taking the rust proof warranty. We were ASSURED that our FULL package would be transferable to Calgary. Not the cheap 3 and half, maybe 4 oil changes (at $50 each) you are telling us you will reinburse us for. Please do not thank us for understanding because we do not understand. Unless you reinburse us for the remaining 24 oil changes that we were promised in our agreement when buying your vehicle, we will not understand...we are only feeling cheated and disappointed.

One more thing Mr. Kiwan. We are very honest people and aside from this disappointment we were quite happy with our experience with KIA and are very happy with our vehicle.

Bank Street Kia responded

Hi Ramona, I apologize. I was informed that you were contacted about getting reimbursed for your oil changes and were content prior to my email being sent off to you. I understand that you are not happy about the result. Please note, the oil change package we offer goes into a reserve to cover our costs for all of our clients. The amount that I accrue is $399. As a value for our clients it's over a $1000 retail value. However, we normally can't just withdraw money from our reserve, but in this case we are trying to accommodate as much as we can and we have the full intention of refunding the full amount $399. In addition, the value you have received for your warranty, rust protection and road hazard is an aggressive deal. All these features are completely covered for you at any time. Once again, I am capable of reimbursing you the cost of the oil change package in form of a cheque which will be mailed out to you right away. Sincerely, Patrick

Ramona responded

We were definitely not "content" about this so called reinbursement you are offering and Isko new that. I made it clear to him that we were disappointed and felt cheated. I gave him our address to send the cheque and ended our conversation because I no longer wished to hear his excuses. Your reserve is of no concern to me. KIA made us a promise and has fallen back on that promise. Nor do I care how "aggressive" you say this rust protection road hazard pkg is. We never really wanted it. We have always been fine with the regular rust proofing and road hazard protection we have gotten with all my other vehicles in the past.

we were also told by Isko that now that we don't and oil pkg with you any long, we dont have to bring our car to KIA to get it done so we can get them done for lower cost. Of course now that we are no longer with your specific dealership, we don't to bring them to KIA. Well, we want to continue bringing our vehicle for oil changes to the place that promised us the oil changes and that is a cost of at minimum $50 each visit.

Ramona responded

$50 x 24 oil changes = $1200.00

And just so that you know when we were negotiating our trade in of the Ford Fiesta (that you gave us just less than HALF the price it was worth for a not even 3 yrs old vehicle)...we were told by your sales rep that our vehicle need all "4" new springs when before bringing it to you we got it the vehicle checked out and we were told that only "2" of the springs needed replacing!! And I'm sure you sold the car for a pretty penny!! We are now literally making payments for 2 vehicles!! We feel ripped off and cheated.

Bank Street Kia responded

Unfortunately, the calculation doesn't work like that. The value of the oil changes is the calculation you used below. The actual cost accrued is our cost price. When purchasing retailing units, they are always shown as retail pricing, not cost. It is no different than when purchasing a television set and receive a one year cable subscription. The value may be $150 a month, but is certainly not the cost of it. Please understand that cost and value are completely different things. You have purchased the warranties and we offered a value for oil changes, we are now refunding you a monetary value of our oil change cost. Ramona, I understand your frustration in regards to the misunderstanding/miscommunication. I take full responsibility and authorized the refund of the oil change cost. If you were unhappy with your trade in value, you had every opportunity to not agree with the price. Your trade in is being positioned now to add fuel to the fire. Let's please focus on the issue on hand and that is the oil changes. Once again, I have agreed to refund you the cost of the oil changes and you shall receive it by mail. If you do not receive it by end of next week, please contact myself directly. Sincerely, Patrick Kiwan General Sales Manager Bank Street Kia 613-736-7022 pkiwan@bankstreetkia.com

Ramona responded

Your sales person knew we did not have the time to sell the vehicle and took advantage of that. You definitely could have given us more for the trade in and I am not trying to add fuel to the fire...it was also an issue as well. But you are absolutely right....we should have taken our trade in vehicle somewhere else for the sale. Unfortunately, we could not afford the time it would have taken to do that. So all in all, lose lose for us. Thank you for your business. I will look for the check in the mail.
