Overall it was a bad buying experience, except a little bit of good exchanges with the initial salesperson, Marcus. Marcus, who showed us around and took us for a test drive was generally good. But others were just trying to rip you off as much as possible. When compared to nearby Toyota dealerships, such as Wesley Chapel or Stadium, I ended up paying at least $2,500 more for the car. As much as I loved the car, I felt I was pressurized to buy it with a higher price as another guy (manager?) showed up to "explain" why I should pay 52K+ for the car. But I said I am not willing to pay more than 40K. After a few minutes, he came back, I negotiated at 42K as the guy told us there will be nothing extra and it will include everything including the interests on finance. I thought it was a good Christmas Eve deal. But again, just to ensure I asked them several times, how about the interests on the loan. And both the salesperson and the manager told me there will be no interests as 42 will be my FINAL, FINAL payment. But later on when we went to Alexis (finance) just to find out that there will be 8% interest over the 5 years totaling to 56K+. If the both of the guys have told me it's going to be 56K+ by the end of 5-year term, I would have walked out without any doubt and gone to another dealership. Or I would have never gone up more than 40K as its initial price that I offered. Of course Alexis tried to explain as if I did not know anything about how loans and interests work without acknowledging what and how many times I asked the final term payment total to Marcus and and the manager earlier. I was expecting a better and honest deal on a Christmas Eve from the Tampa Bay Dealership. But using the sales tactics, I was misguided to pay at least $2,500 more than any other nearby dealerships. If anyone reading this, just call or visit the other dealerships to understand what I am talking about. I was honest and willing and I was made to pay the price for my honesty! I did not complain anything nor presented any non-sensical bargains. But I felt I was seen as a mere impulsive customer but less of a human, good loyal customer as I have bought before a Camry, a Prius, and a Prado (Prado was outside the US). This is my 4th Toyota and yet, overall I found this particular buying experience with a great displeasure! I would certainly ask my family and friends to shop around before they go to Tampa Bay. Otherwise, it's apparent that you will be tricked into paying more out of your hard earned money! I hope my comments above will help both, the potential buyers and the Tampa Bay Dealership!! More
