I have been a loyal Hyundai owner for 30 plus years. When we decided to replace my 9 year old, low mileage Tucson of course i went back to them first but decided maybe it was time for a change so i did When we decided to replace my 9 year old, low mileage Tucson of course i went back to them first but decided maybe it was time for a change so i did a little comparison shopping. My wife always complained the Tucson was like riding in a wagon. But i was so used to it i didn't notice. That is until we went to Subaru Calgary and met with Ben Zimmerman - a true treasure - easy going, friendly, knowledgeable and caring person! He took the time to find out a little about us, what we wanted and was more than happy to take us for not one, but 2 test drives ! The first one was in a brand new 2025 Forester showed us all ( well, most) of the features. I went looking for potholes ( an easy task in this City) and found a few deep ones! My wife barely noticed them! At this point I thought I should try a couple other vehicles to have a fair comparison. The first was a 2025 Tucson. It rode and handled about the same as my 2016 but had a few more comparable features to the Forester. But the ride was the same as my existing Tucson. Next on the list was a Mazda 5 - about the same size and features as both the Forster and the Tucson. That was a really short test drive! Back to see Ben. I happened to look on Subaru Calgary Website and saw the 2022 Forester we ultimately purchased. Every other vehicle we looked at had a black interior but this one has silver inlays that really appealed to me. Now, most salespeople who had already taken you out in a newer model would have tried to convince you it was the best bang for your buck, right? Not Ben! He was more than happy to let us take it out for a test drive! He explained the minor differences between it and the 2025 model. Above all, He wanted us to be happy with our purchase and we definitely have been in the 6 weeks we have owned it! Being a used vehicle it needed a few cosmetic repairs which they took care of before we took delivery. After I had it for a few days I discovered a problem with the drivers side mirror and it was replaced no charge. When we picked the vehicle up Ben took all I the time I needed and showed me how to set up some of the vehicle features and explained some of the other features. He knew I would need to drive it a bit first to figure them out. Some quirky things relating to the Eyesight system but all easy to understand. On top of all that, the couple of times I had to bring it in for Service, Henry, their head service supervisor, went out of his way to take care of all concerns I had. The whole experience was very pleasant, the staff is friendly and helpful, especially Ben. If you are looking for a new or used vehicle I would definitely recommend you ask for him! He knows his stuff and having happy customers is of paramount importance to him. You can’t go wrong! One last point I want to add: I could have purchased a comparable equipped 2026 Tucson for less but my feeling is that you get what you pay for! And Ben will help you get the best deal possible!
