We may not please everyone but it is not because we don’t try, and in this case we went out of our way to take care of the reviewer. We are especially careful when the SAFETY of our customers are in jeopardy and we will always err on the side of customer safety over profit. What this gentlemen does not mention is that he bought an “AS IS” car because it had well over the number of miles normally on a vehicle this age which included above average wear. He was advised verbally and in writing at the time that we could not even warranty the car because of its age and mileage, meaning there was no 30 day warranty as he states. He knew that some items had a lot of wear, such as the CD player on the radio was not working, which he later replaced at another location. He is accurate that he called and asked about brake repair shortly after the purchase. Even though we were not obligated, we repaired the brakes at no cost and made sure that the car was in safe driving condition. In his review, he claims we only repaired it because we feared a law suit. But, he had given up that right when he agreed to “AS IS” delivery. He also notes that “innumerable objects” were found later that were in need of repair. What he fails to say is that it was Six Months later and the mileage was closer to 130,000 miles when we saw the car again. He placed a call to the dealership at that time and claimed that when he had his radio replaced the technician at another location told him his airbag was not connected. We once again made the call that the safety of the customer could be at risk and agreed to make sure that the airbag was operable, even though six months had passed. When we agreed to take a look at it he attempted to claim a long list of additional items that we should take care of for him, including a windshield and all of the vents for his A/C system. When he arrived, we did just as we promised. We insured the airbag was operable (and it had been connected and working all the time), and repaired additional small items, including ordering a latch for his hood. Not satisfied, he claimed that we sold him a lemon and that we had promised to make all the requested repairs and that was why he drove all the way from Lake Mary. Again, he fails to mention that he received a $100 Mastercard to cover any inconvenience and to take care of his gas. As I said at the beginning, we may not please everyone, but we try, and in this case, very hard. Even after six months had passed and with no obligation on a 130,000 mile car that was sold “As Is”. Once again we have been named Dealerrater Mazda Dealer of the Year for Florida for the second year in a row by our customers. We hope it is because they know we care and trust us to take care of them and their cars.

I want to clarify a few things about Sport Mazda/s response to my review. It is, for the most part correct. What they did leave out was important, though. I knew the car was AS IS They looked at the CD player at the time and couldn't fix it. No discount was offered for this. It was Take it or leave it> My point was that they either knew the CD player was bad when they tried to sell it or they decided to stick me with it AFTER they found out without compensation. I talked with the Customer Service ,amager. When I told him the air bag cable might be disconnected he was falling all over himself apologizing and asking me to bring it in, He ASKED me if there were other issues. I pointed out several others that were noted immediately after buying the car (not after it had 130, 000 miles on it). He told me to bring it iin and they would take care of me/ I have an audio recording of him telling the service tech what these issues were and that "Jay said to take care of iy". I wish I could post the audio here. Once they found out that the air bag cable was not disconnected they knew they were off the hook legally. At that time all offered repairs were canceled. The $100 gift card had nothing to do with the gas mileage. It was given by the Customer Service manager to try to compensate me for having to buy a new stereo myself. This was done when he was worried about the possibility that the air bag cable was disconnected.. Oh, by the way, I never did receive that card.. You folks can deal or not deal with these people. I have many responses from ratings I posted on other dealer rating sites. I got a lot of responses like "Thanks for the warning." or "They did something like that to me, too. I just didn't post it anywhere." By far the most common one I get is "they charged you $10K for a car with 110K miles and all those things wrong with it? I guess they saw you coming. Have you not heard of the tern 'used car salesman'?" That comment--and its variations--hurt a bit at first. Now I use it as a lesson leaned..
