Part 1 of 3 Ashley, I must say I am a little confused by your review. You came to Wellington Motors off a manufactures ad looking to purchase a brand new base 2 door Jeep Wrangler. The model vehicle you wished to purchase was sold out at all dealers in Ontario as it was a high demand vehicle the was priced very well and sold out quickly. A sales person followed up with you the following day to discuss other options including the possibility of a used Wrangler. We invited you in to walk the lot with a sales person to look at both new and used vehicles in an effort to find a Jeep that may suit your needs. Fresh incoming traded in units are parked on our back lot until we can get them into our shop to be check for a safety inspection and reconditioning. If the vehicle is one that warrants being sold as a front line retail unit it would have the repairs completed, the vehicle would then be detailed and put on our front sales lot. Otherwise if it is not certified it would be sold wholesale, as is. In walking the lot with our sales representative there was a 2008 Wrangler X that had just come in on trade the night before. You asked about it and were actually quite excited when told how it was equipped. Your words were: “it has everything I want. I don’t need anything fancy”. The sales representative checked to make sure it was not already sold but had cautioned you we had not looked at the vehicle for safety and reconditioning yet as it had just arrived and it was quite dirty.

Part 2 of 3 You agreed to move forward to purchase after a test drive. The agreed price upon price of $15999.00 was inclusive of us certifying and reconditioning the vehicle appropriately, which, again, had not been completed yet. We printed a clause on your bill of sale that clearly stated that you may opt out of the purchase if the safety was not favorable or financially practical, as you wanted to have it looked at by your own mechanic. If you chose to opt out of the purchase we would do our best to find you another Jeep, or let you out of the deal completely. Absolutely zero pressure... You appeared extremely happy and couldn’t wait to pick it up. Your credit application was submitted for approval. In the meantime your sales representative went on vacation for a couple of days. When you called in to find out the status of your finance approval you were in contact with another sales representative that was not initially familiar with your purchase. It did take some leg work on their part to gather the details on what vehicle, what was happening with the financing and the situation with the safety and therefore did not necessarily have all the answers. I apologize if you found his lack of familiarity lacking or rude.

Part 3 of 3 I am the manager you ended up speaking with and I opted to get the Jeep inspected for the safety even though we had not received a finance approval. No repairs were completed just a list of items required for safety was prepared which I provided you. We obliged your request providing a dealer plate and allowed you to take the Jeep to your mechanic as well. It indeed needed work to safety and be reconditioned, which was of no surprise as it was a fresh incoming trade that had not been inspected. When the report came back from your mechanic that the Jeep needed work and you wished to cancel the deal, we refunded your deposit as stipulated on your bill of sale without any question. Wellington Motors is a third generation family owned business celebrating its 75th anniversary serving the Guelph community. You were interested in the Jeep; drove the Jeep; we were upfront and cautioned you that the vehicle had not been inspected or reconditioned; we provided you an ‘out clause’ in case the vehicle was found to be not worth of repair; we didn’t try and put you into another vehicle that you may not have wanted; We honored this clause without question and promptly refunded you your deposit. You are entitled to your opinion and I would be happy to discuss it with you further but at no point did we lie to you or try to take advantage of you. That’s not our style.
