"Booked my vehicle to as per Recall regarding my ignition..."

- Mac

Booked my vehicle to as per Recall regarding my ignition 1.5 weeks ago. They said it’s a Full day job, took it first thing in morning.. I get a call at 4 pm , stating cannot fix the Recall issue as they have not received the part… I had to now rebook again, why they did not let me know the day or 2 before by text or email , if they have not received the parts… i work shift and on this day had to make arrangements to to make changes to my shifts … unnecessary stress , if only they would called me even a day before…. Bad service, Order the parts for the customer before booking , never seen this happen to my Nissan dealership

"They don't even deserve one starI love Subaru Cars but..."

- Laarni

They don't even deserve one star I love Subaru Cars but make sure before you take home your car that if you encountered some mechanical issues and need their services, that there are really Professional people who you can rely and trust that your best interest is their priority and that they are knowledgeable and really know how to fix your car because this is not just a one time transaction. They will be nice to you because they are selling and need you but once you need them for their service, their true color will show. 2020 I brought my car at Subaru Calgary for AC is not working and paid for diagnostic test (150CAD) and they suggested to replace the compressor and quoted me an estimated price of $1597 and a service person on the phone even suggested that I could take it somewhere to save some money. Since I just had a major surgery and under EI for weeks I decided to postponed the repair. And so this year to save some money, I asked my friend who is working at Hyundai Service Center and told him it only needs to replace the compressor as per Subaru which he did replace for 900CAD but still AC did not work and he suggested me to take it to Subaru for which I did. So now I spoke with SAM LAKHU of what happened and he said they need to check again the car and start from zero since I brought the car elsewhere. I paid again for another diagnostic test for 300CAD and then it came out another parts needs to be replace again which is the ECM for almost $1300 for they said it was tampered. So I asked SAM of how much I am going to spend in total just in case I agreed to change the ECM he said it will be only the labor to install for $225. I asked him so many times if he can guarantee me that after this issue and once the ECM is replaced the AC will be working and no more additional charges. Sarcastically SAM said 99% for he said he can't give me 100% for he is not God. I agreed and paid the parts and fully trusting SAMs word that they can fix it once the ECM is replaced. After almost a month of waiting I followed up if the parts are already there but SAM keep on telling me he will call me as soon as the parts arrive, I told him I spoke with someone when he was off and she gave me an estimated date of the arrival of the parts which works for my plan before July 1 for the long weekend. After complaining to Paul, SAM called me to bring the car and he said he is doing me a favor that he will get some other customers order to put in my car. Can't complain on that. So I drop my car early in the morning and hoping I can get my car on the same day with AC fixed and working but he said they need more time so they let me use a loaner car with 5K damage and collision deductible. After weeks of follow up he said they need to replace the Expansion Valve and it will only cost me 190cad and he will ask his manager for a discount and so they charged me 170cad and after week again they said they need to replace the Evaporator Sensor for $1600cad plus the 7 hours of labor to replace it,for which I said I don't have the money to pay for that anymore and he guaranteed that after ECM AC will worked. I was really upset and spoke with Paul Dimakis but he keep on insisting and blaming me because I brought the car elsewhere and that the ECM was tampered and that the compressor that Hyundai put in was not compatible with my car which I said SAM never mentioned it before I agreed to change the ECM and it’s not the compressor that they are changing now. I really can't help but cry after talking to Paul cause I know I have to rest my case and no use to discuss this issue with him and I will take this 100% to God for he knows what they did to me. So I end up losing my hard earned money and drove home upset and still no AC. A really professional and very good mechanic knows how complicated and how expensive to replace the car AC and he will refuse to work and do the job and know if its worth spending that much knowing my car is old. My car is 2009 Subaru Forester which I bought it from them as well for 10K used and i only used 5000km since Sept 2018 and not sure either if AC was working it was not disclosed and missed to check it on my part. This incident was so stressful to me and I have trouble sleeping which is not very good specially in my health condition. I sacrificed a lot and really worked hard for that money so I can drive comfortably going to my doctors appointment and treatment and this is what they did to me. I went to this dealership in good faith hoping that these people who works here I can rely and trust but I was wrong. This experienced was really a big lesson for me. Read reviews and you can’t trust anyone specially if there’s money involved. It sad but it’s very true This Dealership ….they only want your money. These people can't be trusted and no integrity.

Thanks for your automated reply. I spoke with Paul Dimakis yesterday and denying that I had this agreement over the phone with SAM Lakhu and there’s no way I can get my money back for the service that was guaranteed but was not provided.

I called SAM Service Manager because my two spare keys doesn’t turn on the ignition, it says on dashboard security. He said I just need to change the batteries. And he can’t talk to me because of my complaint is already on the management. My other keys needs to be reprogram because they changed my ECM. I don’t really feel safe going into this dealership anymore. Beware for these kind of people and their modus operandi. And I hope their families will be proud of where they get their money to put food on their tables

"June 7, 2021. Courteous, Friendly and Efficient Re..."

- Evelyn

June 7, 2021. Courteous, Friendly and Efficient Re problem with Electronic Parking Brake on Outback not releasing and no apparent cause. In relating this tale of woe to Paul McGurran, he was attentive and and said that he would look at my file and get back to me, which true to his word he did. Furthermore, he said that when he had tested out the EPB, it had locked two times out of three and that there were a couple of other issues which he took the time to explain and that he would have his technician on it right away. The following day, my car was ready for pick up...everything that needed fixing or replacing had been done and was covered under the Warranty Enhancement for EPB Assembly by Subaru Canada. So many thanks to Paul for his diligence and to his staff, the best ambassadors any dealership could hope to have. Evelyn R.

- marknewcruzelease

I wish I had listened to the other negative reviews. We bought a Subaru from Calgary Subaru in October which was an experience in itself. Originally we were going to take it somewhere else for Service when Tariq told us that we shouldnt because the first year of service was included and that it was standard. We agreed and he made the appointment, we brought it in for service and they had no record of that and instead charged us for the service. Very frustrating when you cannot trust those you do business with!!

"I purchased a brand new vehicle and brought it in a few..."

- mariumali_11

I purchased a brand new vehicle and brought it in a few weeks after to get a car starter installed. A pick and drop service was offered and the ride didn't come until 2 hours of the scheduled time to pick me up from work which had caused me to miss my appointments and resulted in cancellation fees. I emailed the operations manager Kevin Fanning and Mike B about the experience in detail in October 2020 with no response. I emailed again in December 2020 and Kevin Fanning's response to my terrible experience was "Please clarify what assistance you are requesting". This was literally the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I sent a detailed emailed about my appointment and how I had called multiple times about the ride that was scheduled to pick me up between a certain time with no response. Instead,Kevin, the operations manager asks me what kind of assistance I am requesting? Is that how they deal with unhappy customers? No acknowledgement, no apology... Very disappointed in their service.

"Ken is the best! I have owned 3 Subaru's and have brought..."

- HappyCustomer123

Ken is the best! I have owned 3 Subaru's and have brought them all to Subaru Calgary for service, and he is the best service representative I have ever had. He made the whole process so easy and explained everything in a honest and open way. I purchased the Subaru Canada extended warranty with my latest vehicle, and on previous visits with other service reps I have felt I needed to argue or push for things to be covered under warranty, even though I paid a good chunk of money upfront for the coverage. Ken had everything sorted and when he called to update me, he had already gotten the warranty coverage approved. He also called to let me know when my car needed another day in the shop for the work to be completed. In the past I have been the one calling at the end of the day for an update. Honestly this was the best service experience I have had at Subaru Calgary. Ken is a huge asset to the service team!

"Great service"

- Tony

We took our 2020 Subaru Foresters in for the first 6000 km service. Altaf kept us informed through the whole progress. Asked us about experience, answered our questions, showed us new features, etc. Make us feel connected, they are there for us. Thanks a lot, great job.

"Wishing I had listened to the negative reviews before me"

- Caylee L

I really wish I had listened to all the negative reviews already posted. Please take this as a warning, you’re going to pay higher dealership prices for your work, work they won’t properly complete, they won’t communicate to you on what’s done and what wasn’t; it’s not a one person issue with the organization, it is organization wide as I spoke with many people who mislead me throughout my dealings. They are just looking to make money however they can and do not have an accountability system for when they mess up. Morally this company has nothing close to your best interest in mind, take your vehicle elsewhere, where it will likely be less expensive, like I wish I had done. I dropped off my vehicle to get some recall work as well as other things for Friday, July 17th, 2020. It was all going great in the beginning, then on Saturday, they called to let me know they had identified some other issues. I said, great, give me a quote and I will likely have you guys fix it while I have it in. They said they would by end of day. Then I heard nothing, so I called back a couple days later, they said they were sorry they didn’t have a quote from parts yet, and would call me back within a few hours. Never got a call back. I called back each day until Wednesday, getting the same answer, promising to call back, blaming it on someone, and never getting a call back. Finally Wednesday I said I can’t wait any longer for this quote I really need my vehicle back, they told me no problem, they had completed all other work (they hadn’t), so I drove in Friday July 24th to get it. I called to confirm what time I would be able to get my vehicle as I live an hour and a half away, and would have to come after work, they confirmed that people would be in until 8pm to let me in, even though the sales side closes earlier, the parts and service side would be open and to just speak to the girls at the desk. I showed up at 7:20, walked in and got rudely asked “what are you doing in here? We’re closed” I explained the situation, they said no one would tell me 8pm, (I promised them I had double check with the lady on the phone and had a friend with me who could confirm that’s what I was told), they went and got my vehicle after complaining about having to go to the back to get it out. Unprofessional but I understand the inconvenience of them having to make up for someone else’s mistake. When I picked it up I went to test the back hatch. It would not open. I tried to get back in, they had locked the doors behind me. A mechanic walked out, I explained the situation and asked him if he could just give me a phone number to call at a later date of who could help me. He said, “I wish I could help you but I’m new here and have no idea” instead of walking back into the building he had a key to, to ask, he walked away. I’ve also since noticed they clearly hadn’t rebalanced the wheels as they said they did. I’ve been in contact with their service manager since, and all I got was “your account manager messed up and that’s unfortunate”. He claimed the 200$ I got charged was to ‘diagnose’ the issue that the button wasn’t working (I could have told you that) even though they didn’t fix it or tell me it wasn’t fixed before I picked it up. He did offer me a bit of a discount if I drove it an hour and a half in again to then get them to fix, but I said I can’t spend any more money at a company that treated me this way or charged me $200 to say the problem I came in to get fixed, is in fact, real. He said that’s all he would do for me. I had a friend later tell me they had a similar issue with this dealership. That’s $600 I sunk in to get burnt out light bulbs changed, and them to tell me my back hatch button doesn’t work. If you’re still with me folks, consider yourself thoroughly warned.

"Good job - bad paperwork?"

- Eugene_V

Last year my car spent about 40 days in the shop for a warranty repair because they kept ordering the wrong parts. For compensation I got some free oil changes that made me come back to this dealership. As I am running all-weather tires all year round, I asked for a tire rotation. I was charged for it, but the checklists show that the wheels were not taken off. I wasn't asked to come back to re-tighten the wheel nuts as usual after taking the wheels off. The advisor claims that it was done, the technician just forgot to record it. Should I believe him? At least they didn't charge for the oil change after I reminded them several times and accepted my declining a bulb change for $50 ($5 part and five minutes work). The shuttle driver was great.

Thank you for considering my review. Management could also look at prices and charges - I was quoted $180 for air filter and cabin air filter replacement, $19.80 worth of "Miscellaneous" was added to my bill. And the next day, when I opened the trunk, the liner was disturbed and the shopping bag hook that was holding it was missing.
