It’s Alex Rayar and my sales rep was Gabby Hallal. We came in to purchase a used 2009 4 Runner, here are the issues we ran into: 1) We were quoted a trade price for our vehicle of $7000. As per Gabby this was “cash in hand”. When it came to signing the paper work we found out it was in fact $6650 because taxes were not covered. We were so far down the sales process that we proceeded to bite the bullet and take delivery. There was no apology or accountability. Any layman would take cash in hand to mean exactly that but we were wrong. 2) There was a list of items that we wanted taken care of before taking delivery of the vehicle, when I came in on Saturday (7th March)to take delivery, none of it was completed. When I asked why, Gabby told me that they just weren’t needed. He said the “extras that we agreed to do not matter “ I have never been lied to like that before. 3) This was escalated to John (used car sales manager) he promised to have all the items completed but I was there at your dealership till 4PM. My pick up time was 9AM. We were going to a family commitment in Calgary that evening but we never made it because of this. As for cleaning the car, I found the previous customers address and personal details in the glove compartment, isn’t that privacy breach? 4) Even then the items were not completed and I was told by Gabby that they would get me in the coming week to get it completed. Well I had to follow up multiple times and finally got a call from the service Dept to book me in. One the items was not completed but at that point I was fed up and ended up having it competed at Mayfield Toyota at my expense. 5) But wait we are not done! While the car was at Mayfield Toyota to have the balance of the work done I asked them to look at why my engine was really loud. They told me that the water pump was leaking and the coolant had leaked all over the belts. They said it had been going on for a while, in fact there was no coolant in the reservoir at all. They quoted ne close to $1000.00 to get it fixed. I sent an email to John on Saturday and am yet to hear back. Tell me Art, am I being unreasonable. This is a significant purchase and I want my family in a safe and reliable vehicle which is why I came to you. Buying a car should not be this painful. I don’t know if this is going anywhere or if you even spend the time to look into this but there it is. As for the sales staff being rowdy and unprofessional, you should see what they are up to in the evenings. When I was there (Around 6:30 PM on a week day) I could barely have a conversation it was so loud with people yelling and shouting, it was like high school at recess. • Car purchased on the 3rd of March • Took possession on the 7th of March • Issues found by Mayfield Toyota on the 14th of March

Alex would it be possible to meet in person, you, myself and my used vehicle manager? This situation has many issues and i would like to clarify all of them at the same time if possible. I also understan that you took the vehicle for a mechanical inspection and were satisfied with this 3rd party insprction thus you chose to purchase the vehicle. Now we are running into a situation that something was missed in our inspection perticularly the water pump. Please let me know wht would work for you and i will adjust my calendar to accomodate you. Alex thank you for meeting with me and my used vehicle manager to recap the facts of the situation, i would like to take a minute here to recap the facts. Originally you entered into a agreement to purchase a 2009 Toyota 4Runner from Sherwood Park Toyota Scion. You agreed to the price, you later introduced a trade into the deal and renegotiated the agreement after originally agrring to the deal. You were provided with a inspection and necessary documentation on the work that was performed to the vehicle at the dealership. You also chose to take the vehicle to a mechanical facility of your choice for a mechanical inspection of the vehicle, you were happy with the inspection all you wanted done was some additional maintenence items that the vehicle was do in the not to distant future. Sherwood Park Toyota Scion agreed to do those additional maintenance items at no additional cost to you. And thus you chose to continue with the purchase of the vehicle. You signed and initialed all the necessary documentation, the documentation outlines clearly all the purchase numbers, trade alowance ect. You took the vehicle and the next day you took the vehicle to another dealership where you were told that the water pump was leaking? in our meeting i ofered to inspect the vehicle by a 30 year toyota technitian with you present for the water pump leak. I wanted to do this as our inspection did not find the pump leaking and your independent inspection did not find the pump leaking. I belive that i offered to deal with the situation if the situation of the leaking water pump existed. Alex you chose to decline. I am confused by your decision to decline, again thank you for meeting with me.

Art, when we met with you on the 21st we were hoping that you would at least listen to our concerns. Instead you took no ownership for the horrible customer service we had received at your dealership and told us that since we took it for an inspection it was our responsibility for any issues. The conversation was less than pleasant and my wife was in tears when we left because of this. You did offer to put the car on a hoist to have a look but after the treatment we got, there was no way we were going to be there for another minute. You can spin the issue with the water pump anyway you want, the bottom line is you and your dealership failed us as customers.
