We Feel Used and Lied To I bought a Forte from Sherwood Kia last year. Although I love my Forte, I have repeatedly regretted purchasing from Sherwood Kia. New Car sales, Use I bought a Forte from Sherwood Kia last year. Although I love my Forte, I have repeatedly regretted purchasing from Sherwood Kia. New Car sales, Used Car sales, Service, and general dealership coordination have all been atrocious. I will review Service separately. This review only addresses my bad experiences with sales. 1. Right from the start, the used car sales team was far too aggressive. From the salesman who chased us down while we started walking to the Nissan dealership next door, to the manager who seemed to use bullying tactics to close the sale and then later defend his dealership's poor service, the people were "not nice" to deal with. "Aggressive", "pushy" and "bullying" are the descriptors that continually come to mind. 2. Conditions of our used car purchase required the dealership to perform certain work on the car. In one case the work was not done well (if at all) leaving us to get it done ourselves. Admittedly, the dealership eventually paid for the work, but not for all of our time and inconvenience dealing with them repeatedly and for then getting the work done ourselves. In the other case, the dealership did put on new tires as required, but a VERY inexpensive poor brand of tire. One tire failed after only 7000 km of use. (the sales manager suggested it may well have been our fault.) Again, the dealership did eventually "make a deal" to try to remedy the situation, but it still cost us money and lots of time & many phone calls trying to get someone at the dealership to listen to us and to help. 3. DO NOT BELIEVE SHERWOOD KIA's PROMOTIONAL LITERATURE. Soon after buying the Forte, my husband responded to an email invitation to visit the new car sales department and receive a Walmart gift card. When we did so, there was no card! Just last month we received a promotional card in the mail stating (word for word from card) "RSVP by phone at (780)449-4499 to attend and receive a gas card valued at up to $500". We also received unsolicited marketing calls from a Sherwood Kia sales manager, also promoting this sale and confirming the free gas card if we attended. Foolishly, we did so. We RSVP'ed. We kept our appointment. Upon inquiring about the gas card, we were told that we could enter our name into A DRAW for the gas card. When we later sent an email about this misleading promotion to the manager in new car sales who phoned us, he DID NOT REPLY OR ACKNOWLEDGE OUR EMAIL. Similarly, an email sent the the dealership's general manager was not acknowledged or replied to! I would like to balance this review with some good news, but at no time did I feel that the dealership performed well, nor did they try to serve us to our satisfaction. Frankly, I would be surprised if this dealership is still in business in several years. Sorry for the negative review, but this is exactly what we experienced. More
Customers made to feel like an inconvenience Although I live about 60 km from Sherwood Kia, I have had to come to the dealership for service because I bought my car there. Unbelievably, my exper Although I live about 60 km from Sherwood Kia, I have had to come to the dealership for service because I bought my car there. Unbelievably, my experiences with the Service department have been as bad as my experiences with Sales. Firstly, I will be fair and acknowledge that the service people were friendly. I also like that fact that they phone the day before an appointment to remind the customer of his/her appointment. But that's where the positives end. Here are my experiences with service - all of which ended poorly: While still on warranty, my car needed new struts. The dealership couldn't perform the work right away, so they made an appointment for me. Admittedly, they told me to call the day before to ensure that the struts were in, but I explained that because I live so far away, I have to book at least a 1/2 day off work to come in, and that I couldn't make and change plans on less than a days notice. The appointment was made for 10 days later. I assumed that this amount of time would guarantee that the struts were in. I took my 1/2 day off work, came to my appointment, and found that they only had 1 strut. I was disappointed, but the service department blamed me for not calling. Yet I had assumed that this had been cleared up earlier. Why would the Service Department even make an appointment if they had no idea if they would have parts then? They changed one strut that day. My husband was then told it would be 3 weeks before the other strut was in. WHAT?!?! This would be over a month from the time I initially brought the car in. Do they send a carrier pigeon to Korea asking Kia to make a strut and send it back to Sherwood Park via barge? When the strut finally arrived, I booked another appointment. Service told me that the job would take 1 hour. Not wanting to take more vacation time, I drove during my lunch hour, hoping to be back to work only missing an hour or so of work. I got there 15 minutes early. They took the car in. In under an hour I saw the car back outside, apparently ready to go. I was quite pleased. However, I wasn't allowed to have my keys. They couldn't find the paperwork. I was told to wait. I sat, and paced, and inquired, and sat - for 2 more hours waiting for them to find the paperwork. From noon until 3:30 I was in the service waiting area, anxiously waiting to leave. Since the work was under warranty, I'm not sure why they just didn't give me the keys and take care of the paperwork later. Finally, at 3:30, someone did surrender my keys to me so that I could leave. (I did not get back in time for work that day.) They never did find the paperwork. How can an operation be so poorly run? I was so stressed and upset from missing work and staring at my car for 3 hours while not being allowed to have it, that I cried all the way back home that day. My husband had a similar experience. He took my car to the Sherwood Kia dealership to get new tires. He arrived early, but Service never took the car in until at least a half hour after the scheduled appointment time. The tire change only took 20 minutes, but after it was done, he, TOO, couldn't leave because there was only one person who could do the paperwork, and he had left the dealership to run an errand to the airport. My husband waited at the dealership for another 90 minutes before this irreplaceable individual returned to complete the paperwork for the free tire replacement. Three hours were wasted at the service department to get a 20 minute job done. The over-riding feeling is that the Sherwood Kia service department has no respect for it's clients and their time. The concept of "appointment bookings" should ensure that work gets done at a specific agreed upon time. Shouldn't it? And since when does "paperwork" run an operation such that it is bigger than service, and can bring a service function to its knees. My car is now off warranty. The good news about that is that any future work I need done on my Forte can be brought to a different service shop to be done. More

I well never be buying another Kia EVER. It all started when i bought my 2011 Optima SX brand new. I bought it at Sherwood Kia. With in the first few months one of my rims had cracked right in the spoke an when i bought my 2011 Optima SX brand new. I bought it at Sherwood Kia. With in the first few months one of my rims had cracked right in the spoke and started leaking air. After 5 visits to find the leak they couldn't detect anything. The finally sent me to a rim repair specialist who found the crack in under 30 seconds and told me it was cracked in such a think part of the rim that it must be from a defect in that casting and couldn't be repaired. Sherwood Kia wouldn't warranty it because it had a few surface scratches on it and that "Kia Canada won't approve the warranty replacement with scratches on it". When i contacted Kia Canada they told me that they leave it up to the dealership's discretion. After a week of back and forth between the dealership and Kia Canada I contacted the BBB. After several attempts to contact the dealership went ignored the BBB closed the case as "Unanswered". I finally just bought a whole new set of rims from Kal-Tire and saved myself $200 over buying one factory rim. Fast forward 2 years and i now have about 45,000 KM on my car when I start getting a check engine light on and my car would stall while idling at intersections. When I tried to get it looked at at Sherwood Kia I was told it would be about 2 weeks to make an appointment to get it looked at. After pointing out that it was only 2 years old and was under 50,000 KM it should be under warranty all they could say was "Sorry other people booked their appointments first" So having had enough of that place I decided to try to get it looked at at Kia West Edmonton. It was a little better story, about 5 days to get in they told me, for the same reason. Giving the same argument I gave at Sherwood Kia they said they would be able to get me in to have it looked at in 3 days if i drop it off when they open and leave it all day they might get around to it. This was better then nothing I thought and asked how I would get to work on the other end of the city and back? They didn't know. Well 3 days later the check engine light was off and things seemed to be running a little better so I decided getting to work on time was a little more important so I canceled my appointment. Almost exactly a week later my car would not start at all after work and I had to have it towed in. When we finally got it to the dealership they looked at it, booked it in and said they would find the problem the next day. Perfect I thought, now can i get a ride home please? Nope, Their shuttle driver goes home at 4:30 and it's 4:45 now. By this time i had enough. My car was dead, I didn't know how i was going to get to work in the morning and now i couldn't get home to try and find a ride for the morning. They were good at trying to remain calm and understanding. They suggested I take the bus as it runs near by about every half hour. Really? The bus on the day I was having while having no idea how to bus home from there. Total BS. So i walked the 38 or so blocks to get home on the west end. The next day Kia West Edmonton called me and said it was a bad fuel injector and they would have to order parts. The parts would be there the next day and they should have it done for me to pick it up the next night. Well Day 3 with no car now and they call me back again. This time they had ordered the wrong o-rings and it would be another day to get the new ones. Day 4 finally get to pick up my car. Everything is working fine but they can't give me the paper work because of the parts mess up and they well have to mail it to me on Monday. It's been over a month now, still no paperwork and the check engine light is on AGAIN and it's running a little rough. Today Kia West Edmonton calls ME and wants me to trade in my car on a new one. I told them nicely that I wasn't interested. When she started going on about 0% and cash back and all this I told her I well never be buying another Kia again. She was completely shocked. "Why?" she asked. So i told her a short version of this story. She was so kind all of a sudden, "We can get you in tomorrow to have that looked after. What time would you like to bring it in?" I told her 4-5 ish. She made me an appointment for 4:30 and I figured wow that was easy. 2 hours later I get a call back from the service department that they are all booked up tomorrow and that they might have some room to fit me in on Friday (it's Tuesday today). I told him that they called me and if they don't want to look at it tomorrow I well run it till it dies again get it towed in and it could cost them way more. He said that well be fine and have a nice day. So I would not recommend any Kia to anyone ever. More
They tried the bait-and-switch on me, through their financial staff. And that didn't work. I did buy a new Rondo from them though, after we got the mess sorted out. Since then, their financial staff ha financial staff. And that didn't work. I did buy a new Rondo from them though, after we got the mess sorted out. Since then, their financial staff have again tried to suck me in, twice! They call saying they'll refinance my car at a lower interest rate, but when questioned, they admit I'd have to buy a new car to get that rate. They will make good deals, but be careful of their financial staff. More
Three weeks ago, my wife bought a Kia Forte from Sherwoo Kia in Sherwood Park Alberta. We now regret it immensely. Prior to the sale, our salesman assured us that the car would be detailed and that smal Kia in Sherwood Park Alberta. We now regret it immensely. Prior to the sale, our salesman assured us that the car would be detailed and that small scratches on the body would be removed, as well as the smoke smell in the interior. When we picked up the car it appears that neither was done. Scratches were still evident, while the smoke smell was as bad as ever. I cannot sit in the car because the smell makes me nauseous. My wife reeks from the smell and has headaches after driving in it. Post-sale dealings with our salesman have been futile. The promises he made prior to the sale were not fulfilled. When we call him now about the smell, he keeps telling us that there is nothing he can do. His manager was to call us about our concerns. When a good many days passed without any call from Sherwood Kia, I called again and asked for another manager. I left a message for the other manager to call back and submitted an online message to the dealership. That was 2-3 days ago. No return call has been received from the either manager, nor in response to the online message. We feel that now that Sherwood Kia has been paid, they have no interest in us whatsoever. (Update Note: Since I initially wrote this review, one of the managers has called back. I will update this review when I know how this turns out.) I cannot even say that this dealership provided POOR post-sales service - because the fact is that they have provided NO post-sales service. We regret purchasing here and will be sure to tell acquaintances about our experience. More
