Difficult purchase We purchased a new 2017 Impreza Subaru yesterday (7 July) at Richmond Subaru and this proved to be a long and troublesome ordeal. The sales manager qu We purchased a new 2017 Impreza Subaru yesterday (7 July) at Richmond Subaru and this proved to be a long and troublesome ordeal. The sales manager quoted the lowest price on this model within the greater Vancouver area and emailed the monthly lease payment to me. We agreed with the drive-off-the-lot price (plus taxes), lease payments and delivery date. I asked that a blank copy of the lease contract be faxed or emailed to me so I could review it before driving to Richmond the sign the contract. All week, I phoned and emailed the manager requesting the lease contract but he was always too busy and promised to have it to me the next day. Finally the end of June arrived and we found ourselves in July and suddenly the lease payments (and residual amount) had changed! A new salesman was assigned to us and made attempts to have our agreed upon lease payments and residual amount honoured. This proved to not be possible. So as the purchase price had remained the same, we decided to finance the car as the payments were now similar. Reviewing the lease contract, I saw that there were official charges $595 and certification charges $100 at the scheduled termination of the lease. I phoned other Subaru dealerships in Vancouver and they did not have charges at the end of the lease. The story is not over..... Reading the financing contract, there were now more charges amounting to over $500 above our agreed drive-of-the-lot price (plus taxes). They agreed to remove these charges but why were they there in the first place! I have purchased many new cars...Hondas, Toyotas, VWs....this car purchase was by far the most difficult, time consuming and stressful experience to date. I also was left with the impression that this dealership had a few sneaky, dishonest employees under its roof. More
