Lemon Jeep?!? Thursday June 30th I was the happy owner of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee North. It did not last long. The very next morning, Canada Day, I hear a knocking i Thursday June 30th I was the happy owner of a 2016 Jeep Cherokee North. It did not last long. The very next morning, Canada Day, I hear a knocking in the engine. Unhappy does not describe my reaction! Back to the dealership I go. My salesperson, Ben, summoned a mechanic upon hearing my complaint. I suspected faulty lifters, push rod, valve stem etc. In short, a big problem. The mechanic and I drove the vehicle. The manager came out and had a listen to this knocky lemon as well. They all agreed, in short order, that there was a problem with this motor. They put three mechanics on diagnosing this problem for me. A few hours later, my suspicions were confirmed. Upon reading the mechanics report I was now more sure than before that, "I do not want this Jeep!" I expressed as much to Ben, his manager and the service manager. However, the only way they could get me into a different jeep was to have Chrysler own the inadequacy of their product and accept it as a return. At which point a new jeep could be ordered for me. That is exactly how it played out. Throughout the whole process Ben was apologetic and understanding. He promised me he was going to make it right and he did. He kept me updated throughout the week that it took to solve this problem. He found my jeep at another dealership and did what was required to get it to me as soon as possible. Everyone I dealt with here at Northland Dodge was helpful and apologetic, admitting that it was a problem that never should have been and that they were going to take care of me. They were going to make it right, make me a jeep man for life. Not sure yet that I am a jeep man for life, but I sure am alot happier now than I was with that knocky lemon.
