In order to transfer ownership of your car, you must have a safety inspection done on it. I agreed to have Honda perform the safety since, I was going to go there to sign papers anyway. Now my car had only 43,000kms on it, I didn’t expect anything to be wrong. Well, I was mistaken. The guy from the service desk came back with repairs in the tune of $806 in order to pass inspection Apparently my car needed new rear rotors, new rear brake pads, which according to them (in writing), were at 2mm. They also recommended flushing brake fluid. The Service guy informed me that they could do it right now on the spot, no problem. I said no, that I would seek a second opinion. I started looking for parts and called a garage recommended by a friend. After inspection, according to them, there was nothing wrong with my car, absolutely nothing wrong with the parts Honda said I needed to replace in order to pass inspection. The pads all around were more or less 7.5mm (half life) while the brake fluid level and condition was also a non-issue. They also performed a safety certification for me to take to Honda. They had no reason to lie, they could have done the unnecessary work and I would have never known because I brought it there in the first place to get a more reasonable price on the work Honda insisted I need for certification. When I went back to Honda to finalize the buyout, the guy had his poker face on when I described in detail what I had just found out. He asked me if I wanted to speak with the manager of the service department. I said no, no point, it comes from high up, and because I cannot believe staff would be doing this on their own. I ended up having to pay $123 for their initial safety inspection even though it was clear to everyone present that fraud had taken place. What Honda was trying to do was to hold my car in hostage to milk me for more money. As far as I am concerned, it is fraud, pure and simple. They have lost me as a customer forever. I’m now wondering how many people do they ripped off on a daily basis. Talking to a few people after this it is not uncommon and a lot of dealerships are doing this. I knew they were bad but never thought they would take a risk where the car could be brought somewhere else for verification. More
Rude and unhelpful I took my car in for a couple of minor issues, I told the lady at the service desk that I had warranty, she said well we'll have to check it out. My I took my car in for a couple of minor issues, I told the lady at the service desk that I had warranty, she said well we'll have to check it out. My appointment was booked for 8am, they asked when I needed it back by, I said well I'd like it in the next half hour otherwise for my lunch break. They called me just before my break and said that the car would be ready in 15 minutes. I got there a half hour later and stood waiting for 1/2 an hour (I guess their computers crashed right after they called me) Finally they have it ready, now that my whole lunch hour is wasted standing in Kingston Honda waiting, they bring me the bill - was $100.00. When I asked why and that I had bumper to bumper warranty (according to the finance guy that sold it to us) She said there was no such thing and she's never heard of it. I told her that is what we were told...bumper to bumper, everything but your tires and regular maintenance like breaks and such. She said it wasn't her problem. I said that this is really frustrating, to pay the amount we did for this warranty and for it to not cover anything, and then also for you to go ahead and do repairs that weren't covered under warranty without my authorization. Her response was "so this is my fault?!?" That was her response to everything. Um nope I never said it was YOUR fault, as a customer I am not happy and you are the customer service person I am talking to right now! It's not my fault, is all she could say - well you're right lady, it's my fault for being a sucker and buying honda's best extended warranty package, and also my fault for dealing with this location! Lesson learnt, thank you! More

Over the past ten years our family has purchase five vehicles from Kingston Honda and the same sales rep. One would think that kind of customer loyalty would score some browny points ? NOT... A strap had worn out and while the vehicle was in for a minor recall I asked about the strap. Well they replaced the strap for twice the price I found at NAPA and Canadian Tire... they also charged fourty dollars to take a two small bolts out and in again. Gerrrr not happy The sales rep said all my maintanance should go through him to get his price.... I didnot realise there was a double standard for customers. Last vehicle purchase Kingston Honda was thousands higher than other area dealers for same vehicle.... I just wonder how much that my family has been overcharged over the years... Shop around More
Brake pads not bolted on after repair----- no apology Wow! I thought I was the only unhappy customer until I came across this review. I can see one bad review as dismissive but thirteen? I do not think so Wow! I thought I was the only unhappy customer until I came across this review. I can see one bad review as dismissive but thirteen? I do not think so! A full brake job was done on the Honda Pilot. My husband checked under the car to look for a rattle which had been plaguing us for years and the dealership could not find. He found that the brake pads had not been properly attached. He phoned the dealership to see if it was OK to drive the car to town as we live one hour away. We had to wait hours for the mistake to be rectified and NO acknowledgement or apology was offered. Everyone makes mistakes and addressing the situation would have made all the difference. That was the last straw. Never went back. As it happens the rattle was repaired by an independent repair on the first visit. Now looking for a new car. Love the Honda produce but do I want to deal with the incompetence of the service department? More

Sometimes, they offer their call centre, which is useless and frustrating to deal with. I have had to go there 3 times for the same repair, because they had no idea what they were doing. If that's not bad enough, they told me that my brakes needed to be replaced when I had just changed them 4 months ago. I got them checked by someone else, and the part shown to me, the brakes were fine. More

Another recall on transmission was done and they "left" a part in transmission and couldn't find it so when the light comes on someday get it to service as soon as possible. Service techs are ignorant and rude. This service department is worse than any other I have been to, including Honda dealers in other cities. I like Hondas but will not touch another until I leave Kingston. More

All lights were replaced from the junk yard due to past owners son before I bought it.distroying, because they took advantage of the previous owners older age..One wheel was bent, they told me the front bearing was defective. The van was completely repainted also due to damage by the owners son or daughter. The dealer changed the wheels with a high mileage ones ( scuft and corroded.) DO NOT BUY ANY CAR OR VAN FROM THEM. I also noticed other used vans were extensivly scratched on the lot from arate past customers..if anyone reads this they the dealer will deny as they are liers. Our next car will be a SUBRAU. More

She could have purchased all of them for less elsewhere but decided she would take her new Honda to the dealer. She paid top dollar. When she asked ask how to use the remote start ($650.00) they told her "to read the manual", she asked where was the manual and was told "it's probably on the front seat". They did not explain anything about the tires or if there was any choices and refused to talk about the remote. This was her first experience with the dealer service department and unless it's warranty it will be the last. I realize that the dealership will probably never take the time to read these reviews, but, perhaps it will shed some light for someone else. More

If you find a good mechanic ... they're gold! Beware that Honda has a serious problem with warning indicator lights and the dealership garage does the bare minimum as required by the maintenance s Beware that Honda has a serious problem with warning indicator lights and the dealership garage does the bare minimum as required by the maintenance schedule. This was my first new car and I adhered to all maintenance schedules and believed that the mechanics would monitor fluid levels during servicing To my dismay, my engine died at just over 200K km due to no indicator light (the orange light was on but the dealership said it could be for a minor item as fuel cap not tightened after a few clicks etc. so that seemed less serious and just a warning) and turns out the engine had no fluids. Of course this infuriates me as I could not see spending over $3,000 on a new engine for an 2004 model. I got two hundred as spare parts for a Honda in good shape (with several new parts in it); Why did the garage not say anything, especially when I asked about how to do maintenance on an older car? Honda dealership in Kingston is no longer a reputable organization in my books! Go for another type of car and do not rely on a dealership for maintenance as they are clearly not in that business (i.e sell cars at all costs with no responsibility!). I know that now after a very expensive experience. If you find a good mechanic ... they're gold! More
