WITHOUT PREJUDICE After having agreed to accompany a WITHOUT PREJUDICE After having agreed to accompany a close friend who dreads the whole car purchase experience. We went to 4 dealers, one being I WITHOUT PREJUDICE After having agreed to accompany a close friend who dreads the whole car purchase experience. We went to 4 dealers, one being Islington Chrysler. In case you don't read this entire rant . . . remember to STAY AWAY! After being passed off to a very pushy sales person (I think we may have initially talked to one of the Mgrs who merely sent us outside to look at rows of locked vehicles) we came back to the showroom to inquire the price of one particular vehicle that was perfect for my friend. We tried to get the price of the vehicle but the pushy sales person was obviously not going to help us unless we came in his office, at which time we told him that we were merely looking for prices. We ALREADY knew about incentives and Chrysler funded zero percent financing for 3 years. Against our will, we did agree to go into his office where he quickly tried to close the deal without even discussing terms and price. We asked TWICE for him to give us the price and write down some of the particulars. He REFUSED and kept urging us to buy immediately by "putting something together today" and said "why do you want it written down?" I asked him a second time to give us the numbers in writing. Again he countered but this time he substituted the "want" . . . . Why did we NEED it written down? Our answer . . . . would have been "so we can look over the different deals and make an informed decision" The salesman's demeanor and refusal to supply an accurate quote on the vehicle's TRUE pricing and incentives were only too clear. It was clearly time to go. I told him we were "done" and we left immediately as it grew immediately apparent that we probably would have NEEDED the details in writing from any salesperson as iniquitous as this one. My friend has learned a lot about nefarious car dealers and obnoxious sales people who try to close deals with no regard for the consumer. He also bought a Dodge Van from another dealer, not to far from Islington Chrysler. As for both of us and our experience . . . . we will campaign to keep people away from what USED to be a pretty fair place to buy a vehicle and their apparent regard for aggresive sales people who try to close deals with no regard for the consumer. Had Islington provided us with the information we were looking for, they would have likely sold two vehicles as I am also looking, but with less urgency than yesterday's van purchase. This was actually good for my friend and for me. He got an honest deal from a much nicer person at our previous stop, and I had forgotten about some of the bottom feeders that call themselves "Sales Associates" More
