The old "bait and switch" I found a 2005 Corolla on craiglists.ca in February 2016 that was for sale at Courtenay Mazda. I was interested in trading in my 2004 Ford Explorer wh I found a 2005 Corolla on craiglists.ca in February 2016 that was for sale at Courtenay Mazda. I was interested in trading in my 2004 Ford Explorer which was starting to break down a little bit and hoping to purchase the Corolla. At first, they offered me $500 trade in Value of my Explorer and then what worked out to roughly $109 bi-monthly to purchase the Corolla. I decided this was not a fair deal and walked away, decided to look elsewhere. Fast forward about four days and I received a text from Gaye Williams, who was lovely to deal with, that they had "found a buyer" and would give me $1500 for my Explorer and $70 bi-monthly but that I had little time to decide and I should come in ASAP. I decided that was a fair deal and went in at my earliest convenience. As soon as I sat down to talk figures the gentlemen who was in-charge of financial dealings took over and informed me that they would not do a bi-monthly payment on such a low price ($4000) and that it would be $169 monthly, and that because it was no longer a bi-monthly offer that the price would increase. At this point I reconciled that I could afford this and I lacked the ability to negotiate that what was initially agreed upon was the ethical way to do business, or perhaps I lacked the courage. At any rate I allowed them to take advantage of me, but in the future will not seek out this dealership or recommend it to friends or family because I feel as though it was not an ethical way to do business. I should have stood up to the pressure that was applied and I learned from this experience. Beware of the "bait and switch" and don't be fooled by an establishment that prides itself on how well reviewed they are on this website. More

Barry offered to pick me up at the ferry (I'm from Powell River) which made it really convenient for me. After buying the car I was having trouble starting it because I wasn't pushing the clutch in all the way(my mistake). Barry drove into Courtenay to where I was to help troubleshoot and figured out the problem. He was very helpful and made sure everything was ok before leaving. Great customer service! More
