Thank you for taking the time to write your review. Courtenay Mazda participates in the Dealer Rater Certified Dealer Program. We are committed to providing high quality customer service, but based on your Dealer Rater review, you did not share that experience. Your visit involved a lower body rocker panel coming off your vehicle. You expressed that it should be covered under warranty, as it was not anything you felt you did to cause the panel to fall off. Mr. Sawchuk explained to you that we were not “dodging” the warranty, rather that dealers love to have something covered under warranty. It is a win-win for a dealership and the customer, as the dealership will get paid for the parts and or repair if the issue was a manufacturer defect and the customer would not be out of pocket for the repair – hence it being in the dealerships best interest to honour any available/qualifying warranty repair. Manufacturers defect warranty though, requires the defective parts to be returned. In this case, you didn’t have the part that “fell off”. We did take photos of the area in question and have submitted to Mazda Canada to decide if the panel falling off is a warrantable item. The decision to accept the missing rocker panel as a warrantable item is in the hands of Mazda Canada, with the information that has been provided to us, by you. Courtenay Mazda did not refuse to accept this as a warranty claim, we simply stated that under the circumstances, it is more likely than not, to be declined.
