Dear Mr. Leoncio, Thank you very much for taking the time to fill out this DealerRater review. We really do use it as a tool to improve our processes and help keep our customers happy. I have reviewed your case to make sure we have served you as best as possible. And while I do appreciate that you are frustrated by the process, I’m not sure how we could have done things any differently. We are not the kind of repair shop that asks customers to perform repairs unless we are sure the repairs are needed. Your particular case was more difficult than most as your coolant leak was intermittent and hidden away where it was very difficult to see the source. Even when we pressure tested the system back on September 19th, the pressure did not drop at all. We could probably have speculated at that point or during one of the follow up visits and quoted you for repairs that we were unsure of, but we prefer not to work that way. When the leak was finally bad enough that we could confirm its source, we quoted you on repairing the intake manifold gasket. There were a couple of other things that had coolant on them such as the thermostat, frost plugs, radiator and fill cap. But these would most likely be explained by the coolant leaking from the intake or from spillage when topping up the coolant previously. I just don’t feel comfortable asking people to pay for things that we are not sure they need. When you returned after the intake repairs were done and we replaced the thermostat, this was because we cleaned away all the residual coolant from before and were now sure that the thermostat had a leak. Removal of the compressed gasket confirmed this during the repair. I guess in retrospect we could have done a better job of explaining the procedures and our thought processes along the way. Keeping the customer informed of what is happening with his vehicle is certainly an integral part of what we should be doing. Having said that, there is nothing I would change about how the way the repairs were performed. We fulfilled our mission to help you in the most cost effective way and with integrity. You did not receive any repairs you did not need and we even gave you a discount on the thermostat repair. I hope this helps explain what happened and puts your mind at ease that you were treated fairly and with your best interests at heart. If you do feel that way, I would ask that you please change your negative rating on DealerRater to a more positive one, or simply remove the negative review.
