My wife and I had quite the poor experience while shopping at Chevrolet of Wayzata. I had found a vehicle online that I was interested in and called the store to set up an appointment for the same da shopping at Chevrolet of Wayzata. When I arrived at the store I was handed off to a sales person right away named Max. We sat down at his desk to look up the two vehicles that I was interested in and to have him get some of my info. When Max finally located the truck, he did warn me that it had smelled like smoke but also assured me that they have a product to get the scent out. After test driving the vehicle I told him I was interested and I would like to see how it smells after they run the cleaning process through the truck,( which by the way only took 10 minutes). After he had done it I was still unsure and decided to look at the other vehicle which was very similar, it just didn’t smell like smoke. I had then made a decision on vehicle number 2 and told max that I would like to bring my wife back to look at it later that afternoon. When he sensed that I was leaving he offered to let me “take the vehicle on rental”, so I could bring it to my wife. When I told him “no” he was very visually displeased and made me feel a little uncomfortable. The general manager Josh came over to try and close the deal, he was a little pushy but not over the top. At this point I had already ran credit and was waiting to look at interest rates. I told Josh that I would not be purchasing the truck at that moment but that I was very interested and would be back that afternoon and I wanted to see the interest rate I qualified for before returning so I could talk to my bank. He told me that “I’m not allowed to see them until I am ready to purchase” . Which I found out was not true. When my wife and I returned that evening we sat down with the finance manager (Kevin) to look over the interest rates. When my wife and I brought up that our bank was going to beat the interest rates by quite a bit Kevin seemed very annoyed. Kevin then “did some work “ on the computer and was able to match our bank (shocker). This was a difference of $30 a month. When we told Kevin that we were going to call our credit union, he tried to position it as him just trying to save us the time and effort to go through their bank. I told Kevin that I have all the time in the word jokingly and he replied to us with, “yeah but I don’t”. Simply because we didn’t want to finance through them. We had negotiated the price down to a fair amount since he vehicle was going to need new tires and only had one set of keys. My wife and I asked Kevin if we could sleep on it and we would be back when they open. This is where they became very pushy. The sales rep Max then offered more money off of the vehicle if we purchased right then and there and we told him we needed to think a bit. He then replied with “ well what if I told you that the $1000 would be added back on tomorrow when you return”. My wife told them that we want the car but just want the night to think. You could tell Max and Kevin were very annoyed based on the body language. Kevin then told us that he doesn’t want us to feel uncomfortable and to sleep on it and we can work it out in the morning. I went back the following morning to purchase the truck. I sat down with Kevin again and told him that I put thought into it and I will finance through thier bank since they matched the rate. He started to do paperwork again and I noticed the had added the $1000 back on. When I asked him he replied with “that was last nights price”. I asked if I could still receive the discount since I held up my end of the deal. He then brought Max in the room. Max told me the same thing Kevin did and when I started to question it Max replied with “That’s how sales works”. I asked to speak with the General Manager Josh again. Josh came into the office and sat down and tried to explain to me that he had a buyer lined up for my trade in the day before and now that I decided to wait he no longer can give me the extra $1000 off. I told Josh that I thought it was bad business and I will be going elsewhere. In effort to save the sale, Josh told me he would “honor the $1000 off if I bought their extended warranty” which costs $2000. I declined the offer and was trying to leave. He gave me one last offer, he said that he would honor the $1000 off but I had to promise to write a 5 star review on google and Facebook. He even used the words “I don’t mean to hold your feet over the fire”. After Josh left the room the finance manager started to work on paper work again and I told him I would not do that. This is such a bad business practice. I would recommend for everybody to tread lightly with this dealership. You can read their reviews on their website and they’re not pretty. To top it all off they charge a $899 fee on all used cars for a protected cleaning kit.( this is what Max took the car back and did for 10 mins). It’s not optional. It’s false advertising. Please beware of Josh and his sales team!! More

Kevin was cordial and provided me with all the information I needed to make the best choice on financing and extended service package. They will continue to have my business for service and repair and any new car in my future. More

What I was told over the phone and what was actual reality when I arrived at the dealership was two different things. Although what I was expecting didnt happen, they did try to make up for it and wor reality when I arrived at the dealership was two different things.
