Do Not Waste your Money at a Suburban dealership! Less Do Not Waste your Money at a Suburban dealership! Less than a year ago my 19 yo daughter used all of the babysitting money she had earned and saved Do Not Waste your Money at a Suburban dealership! Less than a year ago my 19 yo daughter used all of the babysitting money she had earned and saved over 4 years to buy her first vehicle from Suburban Chrysler DJR of Farmington Hills. A dealership that we in Detroit think of as reputable. A household name. The salesman, Rick Poe, and The sales manager, Doug, used every sales tactic in the book to get her to make a rash decision. They Told her that if she didn’t make the sale right then and there that it was going up in price by $1000 the next morning. Of the 10 months she has owned it it has been undrivable for more than 5 months. Within one week a check engine light came on, a headlight went out because of an electrical short (not the bulb) and the stereo would flash on and off sporadically. In less than 90 days the main computer (ECM) shorted out completely and caused a fuel pump to blow pushing fuel through the catalytic converter. That is only the beginning of this nightmare. Because electrical problems are considered so dangerous there is exception to the “As Is” law that electrical problems must be disclosed to the buyer. She was told the truck was in “perfect condition. I would sell it to my daughter “ by Rick Poe. I am fully aware that used cars come with problems, but the problems she has had are dangerous and extreme. I have been begging suburban to do anything they can to help since March. They're general sales manager, Paul Alfonsi, has laughed at me and told me "he'd love to help but she signed the paperwork stating the vehicle is As Is" and that they only made an “$800 profit” off the sale so his hands are tied. This makes me wonder why they sold a Ram 1500 for so little profit in a market that can’t keep trucks on the lots. asked Lenny, who I was told is the service Manager, if he could just please give me a service report detailing what service was performed by his dept. and what a used car inspection entails. He told me he cannot tell me what a used car inspection entails because he doesn’t know and that he does not have access to service records. He stated that it is a policy that the service dept cannot keep service records for cars that are being put on the lot for sale. Ultimately this experience with Suburban has shown us that Suburban’s only goal is to make sales. They do not care about the safety of the vehicles they are sell or the safety of their clients. She literally used all of her savings to buy this truck, and I have spent multiple thousands of dollars trying to fix a truck that I'm now being told by a different Chrysler dealer is "unfixable". Thank you for reading this and good luck to you if you buy from Suburban. More

purchased my first vehicle from Suburban in August of purchased my first vehicle from Suburban in August of 2020. It was a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 and it was beautiful. In fact, the used car sale manager Dou purchased my first vehicle from Suburban in August of 2020. It was a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500 and it was beautiful. In fact, the used car sale manager Doug told me it was in such great shape that if I didn't act quick, they were adding another $1,000 onto the price tag the next day. Less than three months later, the truck broke due to an electrical issue. My mechanic , upon inspecting the vehicle again, found pre existing electrical issues that had been there before I bought the truck, a junk catalytic, clips missing from the injectors and the main plug into the motor, and three bolts missing from the transmission. Essentially, they sold me a dud vehicle that could have harmed me while I was driving. My mechanic fixed the truck for me as best he could but then three months later the truck breaks again, due to electrical issues. After looking under the dashboard and fully dismantling my fuse box, my mechanic found flood damage and wires with no caps leading to absolutely nothing, which is extremely dangerous for the fire hazard alone not to mention the fact that the faulty wiring caused my car to completely stop acceleration and then stop altogether while I was driving which again could have been harmful to my life. All of this happened within 7 months of me purchasing the vehicle. My mother and I spoke to Doug to try to resolve the problem but he refused to help. He claims that my car was sold as is and that there is nothing they will do about it. He claims he told me to have my vehicle inspected, which I did, but he is a sales manger at a dealership so he should know very well that cars older than 10 years or have more than 100,000 miles(mine only had 120,000) don't get 100 point inspections and no inspections dismantle the dashboard or fuse box so how was I supposed to have found these problems before. I am a 20 year old who saved up to buy a $15,000 truck that I can't even drive and no one at this awful dealership will do anything to help. With the electrical issues car had, I've already put $5,200 into it and it won't even start at this point. It will cost me even more in labor and parts to get it to start. I would not recommend ever purchasing from any Suburban, they are shady people who are just looking to get cars out of their lot. The truck was not worth $15,000 when they sold it me, so I have no idea how Doug was going to increase the price so quickly. FYI anyone buying used cars from this dealership should know that Doug himself said they just check if the car "starts and brakes" before they put it on the lot however he did not tell me that upfront, him and Rick Poe told me that the car was in great shape. Rick Poe even told me he'd sell this vehicle to his daughter. Its good to know that Doug and his team at Suburban wants people to purchase unsafe vehicles from them, they will say anything to make a sale. Truly an untrustworthy man and an untrustworthy dealership. Don't waste your time and MONEY buying from him. More

Wow just Wow I've always bought my cars from a different dealership and to say the least I will keep doing that. The amount of time and headaches I have been throu I've always bought my cars from a different dealership and to say the least I will keep doing that. The amount of time and headaches I have been through to purchase a car from this dealership is far from none. To start off I spent over $44,000 at this dealership and at that price I thought I would be getting a great vehicle. The process was running fine until I was leaving the dealership with the car/ broken car. Apparently one of the rear taillight just happen to break as soon as I drove off of the lot but didn't happen in the dealership parking lot. What came to amaze me is that the dealership would not pay fully to fix the taillight. I was left to pay another $300 for a new taillight because the used car manager Doug said that he watched me drive off the lot and it wasn't broken, yet like I said it happen to break as I left the parking lot. On the ride home all was fine until the car got to its operating temperature. At this point the other issues began. I'm am not sure how extensive the dealership rundown is when taking in a car on trade in but it definitely was not enough or this problem could've been caught and fixed. I then spoke with both Doug Mueller and John Timmington who is the General manager and got the same rude attitude and unwillingness to provide any help. The failure in the car that occurred actually affects safety features of the car so I'm glad to know that this dealership is selling unsafe cars as well. I have been going back and forth with them and the cost to fix the problems is around $500, so the cost of the car actually is really adding up. I was told that I would have to pay fully another dealership to look at and fix the problem along with the this dealership tacking on more money so they can get their hand on some. With as much money as I'm sure they made on the car, they want me to pay $800 for problems that they should have fixed in the first place. It really gives a good look for the Suburban Group name to go with my experience. You'll never catch me stepping foot in any suburban dealership ever again. You can bet I'm not letting anyone else that I know looking for a car to do the same. More

Last month I purchase a 2015 challenger RT with a manual transmission. A week and a half after having the car it wouldn't go into gear so I took it to a local dealer by my work in Toledo. After waiting 2 1/ transmission. A week and a half after having the car it wouldn't go into gear so I took it to a local dealer by my work in Toledo. After waiting 2 1/2 weeks the dealer was able to get the car in and determine the clutch was bad. The dealer, Grogan's town, informed me that an aftermarket harness had been installed to trick the computer into thinking the Skip Drive had activated and that that was the cause of damage to the clutch. I contacted suburban and ask them if they could help me with this issue. After speaking with the used car sales manager Doug I was asked to have the car towed to their dealership so they could look at it snd they agreed to pay the $400 fee that the other dealer was charging for the work they had done. Later that day used car sales manager Doug called me and informed me that after reviewing the information that Grogan town had sent them they would not be willing to replace the clutch. He claimed that I have no way of proving I did not burn out the clutch in the time that I had it and he also stated that Grogan town is possibly lying to me about the cause of the damage to try and make money on the repair. So now I've had a car for a month. I've made a payment on it and I've only driven for approximately 1000 miles and suburban is unwilling to back a product that they sold me and had extremely minimal use since the purchase. Update 10/19 over 24 hours have pasted sense I was told John Timmington would be call me to help resolve my issue and nothing. I have left voice mails with both Zack Holmes the Customer Care Manager and Mr. Timmington today and no return call has been made. I’m starting to wonder how Suburban is so large if this is how they treat their customers. Next call is to Chrysler Customer Care. Maybe that will get you attention. Update 10/17 Update- After going back and forth with management I finally had to call Chrysler Cares and file an official complaint. Once my assigned case worker form Chrysler reached out to the dealership they decided to bring my car in, replace the clutch and give me a loaner. It's too bad I had to go as far as calling Chrysler to get this resolved. I will never return to this dealership or any that are owned by the Suburban Collection again. More
