I have purchased a new vehicle with Germain every year for the last 5 years. This year was my absolute worst experience and it has me doubting whether or not I will return. The sales process (Amanda) wa for the last 5 years. This year was my absolute worst experience and it has me doubting whether or not I will return. The sales process (Amanda) was extremely smooth as always. She goes out of her way to make things happen. The Finance department and Sales Manager are where the trouble resides. The deal on my vehicle was done weeks before I took delivery. Payment and options were worked out and having top tier credit guaranteed me the best rate. However, when delivery day came, this is when they decided to try and change the terms. First off, I was pushed on buying GAP insurance, which I repeatedly said I didn’t want. This can be purchased through your personal insurance for about $7 a year be $7 per month additional. The finance individual would not take NO for an answer. At one point he offered me a lower car payment that included GAP vs a payment that was higher without (however both of these options were higher than the original payment promised). Initially during my interrogation I was told I only qualified for a certain higher percentage rate and after an hour of sitting there and deciding to walk away from the deal, I finally received the payment and miraculously the lower interest rate. Most likely next year I will be weighing my options on where to purchase my next vehicle. More

Things changed once we sat down with Demetrius Davis in the finance department. We did not have to borrow from the dealership and could easily get a personal low-rate auto loan from any bank of my choice, but I wanted give the dealership the business and assumed that my best interests would be served. From the moment we were introduced until about over an hour into the meeting, all that was discussed was a “needs” based review for all sorts of warranties. I understand that this is part of the process but it took majority of the almost two hours we were in his office. We had denied the additional warranty coverage at first, but inadvertently said yes after his third attempt. We were not presented with three different competitive interest rates to choose from, actually the rate and lender was assumed by Demetrius. The financing went to the highest rate at 4.99% and was the dealerships own Toyota Financial Credit company. Demetrius missed several opportunities to disclose important items that I did not discover until I was reading over the contract when I got home. Finding out things like the warranty deductible is $200 and that the loan interest rate of 4.99% is well above the rate a consumer would get from just walking into a bank. Also, I still have not received any confirmation that my $9,500 wire for the down payment was ever received. To summarize, make sure the finance reps spend more time going over the actual details of the purchase contract and require them to mention that the customer can take it home to review if the experience is a bit over whelming and they need time to understand what it is they are signing. It is a two-party contract very much in favor of the dealership so it is definitely too late if the customer changes their mind after signing because Germain will never agree to that. More
