On a Friday night, my battery went dead in Mt Dora. A kind couple jumped it and I took off for your dealership arriving 5 minutes before closing.. Bad day made GREAT! My family was traveling home to Atlanta the Saturday after thanksgiving in Miami when our car shuddered and stopped. Unfortunately we knew exactly wh My family was traveling home to Atlanta the Saturday after thanksgiving in Miami when our car shuddered and stopped. Unfortunately we knew exactly what was happening as it happened to us 8 months before when we were making the same trip. That time we went to a small transmission shop who put in a new transmission however put in the wrong fluid type. Therefore the $4k we spent 8 months before was now worthless. We arrived at Jenkins Honda at 2:30 on Sat, and the service department was due to close at 4. The service manager was incredibly gracious and fit us in (Kayce Mcrae). After Christian Vega's (mechanic) initial review he diagnosed the problem and told us a new transmission would be needed (he did look at every possibility, including draining fluid multiple times, but advised against proceeding given cost and unlikelihood for success). Kayce Mcrae immediately began looking for parts however given that it was a holiday weekend and no parts could be procured earlier than Monday it was a problem for us with school age kids. Additionally our van had over 200K miles and to pay another $4K on a repair was unadvisable. We were stuck and didn't know what to do. Greg Green a sales person asked us to come chat with him on his side of the dealership. We laughed and said buying a car was not top on our list for the day. However we had time while Kayce and Christian attempted to locate parts and we decided to "humor" Greg. (we were more than upfront that it may be a waste of his time, he said "no worries" let's just look - he was upfront that a 200K car was not worth the additional repairs and if he could find something for us he would certainly try). Greg spent real time with us, trying to figure out what our goals were for driving (ages of the kids, who would be driving when, what the driving objectives were, our budget, etc.). 5 hours later, Greg found us the perfect car. He NEVER pressured us! He never tried to up sell us. In fact he helped us find a used car below our planned budget (we knew we were going to have to buy a new car in the near future, just hadn't planned to do it this weekend and as a result we had done no research so he was very patient as we worked thru and learned and researched what we needed). He explored everything we asked (buying, leasing, pre-owned, etc.). Let us use his computer / wifi to do our own research, etc. We ended up buying a used car from Greg with only 70K miles (which for us is hugely more reliable than my 200K plus car), it was the same model we currently own but newer and again below our planned max price point. Additionally, Greg & his manager were able to waive fees for the service diagnosis, provide a loaner car overnight while our car was getting ready (it had just come on the lot the day before and needed a mechanic to check it) -- they paid the mechanic to come in on a SUNDAY to get the car checked out so we could get the kids home for SCHOOL ON MONDAY!! WHO DOES THAT!!???!!! It was a terrible day but Greg and his dealership helped us make our return home possible. THANKS GREG!!! More
