It's all about Calin Varga He's a straight forward sales person who is honest and very easy to work with. I initially didn't even consider going to Lithia Subaru because Michael Hohl did such a job with servicing my old Suby that I wanted to give them first crack at my next purchase. However after Michael Hohl gave me a really poor final offer on a new Forester XT I decided to shop them. I'm glad I did because I got a significantly better offer. I like Calin because he's the kind of guy who is polite and likable but at the same time he doesn't engage in un-necessary chit chat to close the deal. It's all about quickly getting you the price you need to do the deal. I've recommended him to friends and the next time I buy a car I'm calling him first. More

After some truly horrifying and at times ludicrous and even offensive experiences WITH OTHER DEALERSHIPS in the Reno area, we went to LITHIA SUBARU because that make of car was our first choice. We had previously owned a 2008 Legacy, which our daughter totaled in 2010, and loved it. The accident in which the Legacy was totaled was very serious and had she perhaps driven our 2006 Prius instead that night, without all of the safety features standard in all Subarus, she would have undoubtedly perished. Knowing how safe the Subarus are and how comfortable and extremely durable they are, the day after my birthday my husband and I ended up buying a brand new 2014 Subaru Legacy Premium at an extraordinary PRICE, we got financing that just blew USAA's out of the water, and a GREAT DEAL on a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty, for a total of 6 years of full coverage. Unbeatable deal!!! Once we were able to actually meet with the actual Internet Sales Manager, CALIN VARGA, who had been out of town Weds. & Thurs. for his days off, he and I had a great connection and it all just clicked. It was meant to be. CALIN VARGA has an uncanny ability to read people and is the most astute listener I have ever met. He has laser-like skills in honing into what we said in emails, on the phone, and in person so that he was able to guide us to 2 possible vehicles, both of which we drove. His actual selling of the car was unusual because he does not sell you anything, but rather places in front of you what he feels is the closest match with what info he has gathered from his experience with you, then lets you make the choice = no pressure or bullsh!* The purchase process was also truly painless and the most relaxed and friendly car-buying experience in our 30 years of marriage, which encompasses literally over a dozen cars - both new and used! We are very grateful for Calin and the finance staff for bringing us back into the Subaru family!!! My husband and I both are very, very happy with that experience and the budget was kept intact with a beautiful, perfectly-appointed car tucked away in my garage! Gina & Mark Johnson More

In February 2013, a Sunday morning about 7:30 am, my husband and I decided to go to the Subaru lot and just look around at Legacy's and hoping that there would be NO sales people there. Low and behold husband and I decided to go to the Subaru lot and just look around at Legacy's and hoping that there would be NO sales people there. Low and behold someone was coming to work early (what are the odds) and was walking toward us. This was our first encounter with Calin Varga. We told him we were just looking at Legacy's but we were NOT ready to make a purchase. That's NO problem he said. Any questions about the car.. of course we did have a couple questions. Calin has a vast knowledge of the Subaru cars. He suggested that we go on a test drive to get a feel for the car. Again, we told him we were NOT ready to purchase. That's NO problem he said. So, of course, we went on a test drive. When we got back to the lot Calin gave us his business card and said when you are ready to purchase let me know. HOW REFRESHING... were we dreaming, we were not pressured at all to buy a car. Fast forward to August 2013, we were ready to purchase a Legacy. So, off to Subaru we go and asked for Calin. We told him what we wanted as far as color and options in the Legacy. In checking the inventory, of course, he found a Legacy in the back lot with our "wants" that had arrived the day before... only 6 miles on the car. Once again, he said I want you to be happy, so lets take the car for a test drive and make sure this is the car you are looking for... so, we did... and YES it was what we were looking for in a car. BUT one more thing,.. Calin said, I cannot give you a dirty car, give me 15minutes. He went our and hand washed the car before giving us the keys. That's what I call going above and beyond ! Thank you Calin for making the entire process enjoyable from start to finish. You are a top-notch salesman that cares about the customer. More

Concerns with the Costco Auto Buy Program and this Dealership!! If you use Lithia Reno Subaru for the Costco Auto Buy Program, make sure they show you the Costco Members Only Price Sheet. Paul did not Dealership!! If you use Lithia Reno Subaru for the Costco Auto Buy Program, make sure they show you the Costco Members Only Price Sheet. Paul did not show us the sheet and misled us about the Costco price. He said the negotiated price was $500 higher than it actually was. He then said because they were really wanting to sell me the car he would give me an additional $500 off (which I found out later brought it to the negotiated price we were supposed to get with Costco anyway). At best this is misleading, at worst it is lying. When we were later negotiating for trade-in values, he said that because they are already losing money by "being nice" and giving us the extra $500 off, that they couldn't do any more for the trade-in. Paul was using leverage on a discount we were supposed to get in the first place, which again is misleading (or lying). Only after going home and contacting Costco was I able to discover all this. Big tip - get the Costco Members Only Price Sheet first!!!! Also while we were there, my husband was confronted by Calin. Calin was giving my husband a hard time as to why we didn't do our business through him. He implied clients were being stolen and he was bit aggressive about it. Our dealings with Calin was weeks before when we went in and said we ONLY wanted to test drive, which we did but of course he tried to sell to us then. When you sign up through the Costco program - a sales person is assigned to you - we didn't pick Paul he called us. For Calin to take out his frustrations with my husband was beyond unprofessional. Jesse was great on getting us through all the paperwork, financing, and showing all the features of the new car. Jesse was and has been very helpful in getting to the bottom of the inconsistencies we discovered after buying the car through the Costco program. In the end, we got the car we wanted for the price we were supposed to but I'm not sure we'll use Lithia Reno Subaru again. The unprofessional behavior and the misleading (or lying) we experienced certainly has made us not trust the dealership. More

Calin Varga was very helpful and worked very hard to get me the exact car that I wanted. With two small children hanging off of me he was still able to make the usually stressful experience of getting a ne me the exact car that I wanted. He even stayed late each time I went because I couldn't get there until after work. I recommend Calin to anyone. Just go in and ask for him since he is always there working. Thank you guys, I love my new car! More

I had such a great time buying a car at Lithia Subaru of Reno, and I was NOT looking forward to getting a new car. Everyone there was extraordinarily nice. When I first got to the lot, Jesse came over to as Reno, and I was NOT looking forward to getting a new car. Everyone there was extraordinarily nice. When I first got to the lot, Jesse came over to assist me and he was VERY helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. I told him upfront that I didn't have the best credit and thought it might be hard to get financing, and he didn't even bat an eye, like the salesmen at several other dealerships had. He asked a couple of questions to see what I was looking for in a new car, and the very first one he showed me was exactly perfect. Unfortunately, Jesse had an appointment with another client, so he had Calin assist me with the paperwork and Calin, also, was incredible. He just may have been the nicest person I've ever met. He was funny and honest and informative. It took a while to get financed (again, bad credit), but Calin spent a long time just hanging out with me. He made me feel totally confident that my car was perfect, and ensured that I wasn't bored for any length of time. Overall, I really loved my experience with Subaru. I felt like I was hanging out with friends the entire time and even the people I didn't actually work with were always coming up and saying hi and congratulating me on my purchase. If my Outback wasn't as awesome as it is, I would love to go back and buy a new car from them all over again. There are just not enough nice things to say about everyone there, especially Calin and Jesse. More

Lithia Reno Subaru was one of several stops last weekend as we began the test driving phase of our search for a new vehicle. We were originally looking for a small SUV and were interested in Subaru for the as we began the test driving phase of our search for a new vehicle. We were originally looking for a small SUV and were interested in Subaru for the Forester. At Lithia Reno Subaru we worked with Calin Varga. Calin was very professional, he listened to our needs and interests and talked with us about the Forester but he also introduced the Outback as an option (we had specifically excluded the Outback as we thought it too small for what we wanted). He asked a few questions that helped us quickly focus on models that would best suit our needs and lifestyle and he patiently addressed our questions allowing us to drive the process. He did look impatient or push for a sale, which was very much appreciated and NOT what we experienced at some other dealerships. After visiting several other dealerships and driving other vehicles we had short listed, we decided on the Outback. We moved into the price negotiation phase this weekend for the model and option package we were interested in following the recommendations on Edmunds.com. I contacted the internet service managers at several local Subaru dealerships and called Calin to let him know what I was doing and that my preference would be to buy the car from him since he had given us such great service during our test driving phase, but that it would come down to price. He was very open with me on what he could and could not do whereas others played it closer to the chest urging me to come in and sit down with them, which I was not interested in doing until I had a deal established. In a couple of hours on late Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning going back and forth with the various internet service managers and Calin, we arrived at a deal I was happy with. Calin had won our business and when we went into the dealership yesterday (Sunday) afternoon to get the purchase finalized, Calin continued to impress us. He handled the sales process quickly and efficiently and worked hard to ensure we felt very good about the process and the price we had negotiated. The final piece was getting a deal established for an older Honda van that had some problems that we wanted to trade in, which he handled as well as he handled everything else. As we drove home in our new vehicle, my wife and I agreed that this was the most pleasant car buying experience either of us have ever had. A lot of the credit for that goes to Calin and how he listened to our needs and how he worked with us throughout the entire process to make sure we were comfortbale with the process and that we would be happy with our purchase. Don’t take your chances on ending up with a random sales person (in my experience, the quality of sales people vary dramatically). Call and ask for Calin Varga. More
