On May 20th I had my 2014 towed to your dealership with a dead battery. The car, which had a new battery installed at your dealership on December 29, 2020, was finally ready for me to pick up on May 26th. Th dead battery. The service technician stated the battery was fine and the parasitic load was in the normal range. She indicated that driving the car for 30 minutes on the highway once per week was not sufficient to charge the battery and might actually be detrimental. On May 27th I headed to Ohio to celebrate my mother’s 91st birthday. I stopped at a rest stop west of Madison on I-94 and when I tried to start the car, the battery was dead – just as it had been when it was towed to your dealership on May 20th. Logistically I could not drive back to the Twin Cities, get my wife’s car, and get to Ohio for my mother’s birthday celebration so I call Zimbrick Acura in Middleton, WI and explained the situation. Although they were fully booked, and I might have to wait 3 to 4 hours, they would look at the car. Then I called and spoke to a service technician at your dealership who gave me no viable answers for the problem. I ask that he call Zimbrick to arrange a loaner car so I could continue my travels, but he indicated that Bloomington Acura has no influence with Zimbrick and therefore could not arrange to a loaner. So I was struck in Madison with a potential 4 hours delay. Luckily, I was able to get it jump started by another kind traveler at the rest stop and drove to Zimbrick Acura. As I mentioned their service schedule was booked solid for the day, however they were able to get my car into the shop in hopes of continuing my journey so I could be present for my mother’s birthday. After approximately one hour, the service technician said my car was ready – the battery had a dead cell and they replaced it at no cost. I am baffled that your dealership had my car for over three days and could not determine that the battery had a dead cell. Luckily the technician at Zimbrick was able to quickly diagnose the problem and did so in one hour. I doubt I will bring my car back to Bloomington Acura for service again after this situation. More
