My Veloster was written off so I was looking for a new vehicle - no trade. I looked at a number of small SUVs and test drove a couple different Subarus, and a Rav 4. We were drawn by the pricing on new 2016 Tucson models that were being cleared out. We settled on a trim level - 1.6T Limited AWD. I had the pricing off the Hyundai web site as well as the cost pricing on the vehicle, so I had an idea how much of a discount was reasonable. I made an appointment with Dan Fletcher and while waiting for him, I spoke with Thomas Powell about the various add-ons (accessories and fees, the accessory in calgary is always a block heater).to the web price I could expect. In his words it was $1,200 to $1,500. Dan took me through a test drive but not the specific model. I made an appointment to come back with my wife and drive the particular vehicle we were interested in. They promised to have the vehicle there (t was across town at another dealership) but when we arrived it was not there. We ended up driving across the city to pick it up, and then drive it back. We then talked pricing. There was no one in the dealership but we waited 25 minutes for him to come back with pricing. I honestly cannot understand why dealerships do this - I suppose they want you to think that this is a huge decision that you will grasp only if you are made to wait. The paper he put in front of us contained $2,431 in "accessories and proc/doc fees". $1,726 dollars was the latter fee(s). The accessories were a block heater, which they put on automatically, whether you want it or not. Also lock nuts. The total add-ons were about twice what Thomas said they would be and about 7% of the price of the car. We walked away. I could go on about the anger I felt but I won't. My feeling was this was just like a root canal - all bad things will pass. I called back the next day with an offer, that if you feel administration fees are unavoidable and you value a block heater, about $1,000, or about 1/3 of 1%. The other discounts were courtesy of Hyundai Canada - they were not impacting the dealer. About a week after I took delivery I became aware of a discount offered through a Professional organization I belong to. In the case of the Tucson model I bought, it would be $1,200. The form on the professional web site was trying to treat me as not having bought a vehicle, so I contacted Calgary Hyundai to find out how to to take advantage. The Sales Manager, Josh, called and told me that I already got the discount. It was included in the discounts I had received. That is an interesting take as my being part of this profession was never mentioned, and given that all but ~$1,000 of the discounts were Hyundai Canada discounts, I was somewhat incredulous. Not shocked however. Just incredulous. My wife is in sales and told me it is a common practice - discounts are offered through various methods, say 2% here and 2% there, and 2% somewhere else, but the important thing is that there is only ever 2% in total, not 6% as in this example, on offer. I might feel better with that explanation if I even got the total offered by my association, but I did not, and I feel angry and frustrated that the discount offered my Association is unadulterated bs. There were two bright spots. One was Rena - very pleasant and very professional. The other was Ashley. She was helpful as well. I wish a car manufacturer would come up with another sales model. We must be getting close to where we could just order online and have the car delivered to our door. Perhaps too they could operate a central try out centre, whose sole function was to let you try out the vehicle. The current dealer model is old, and broken. In the meantime I am hopeful that it will be sometime before I have to go back to a car dealer again. More

We walked in and Dan was there to help with everything. Knowing that I was very budget conscious he gave me a list of options that I could use when purchasing my vehicle, he even gave me the pros and cons of buying a new/used vehicle vs. a new vehicle. I never felt pressured into anything we went over, Dan only made sure that what I wanted in a vehicle was there and at a great price. A week later he called to make sure that I was happy with my overall experience and my new 2017 Santa Fe, I can happily say that Dan is NOT a crooked dealer that is out to squeeze every penny out of you, he is there to meet your needs! Thank you for the excellent customer service! More
Last time I will visit CH I purchased my vehicle from Calgary Hyundai back in August and had an uninspiring experience with Dan Fletcher when we went to pick up the vehicle and I purchased my vehicle from Calgary Hyundai back in August and had an uninspiring experience with Dan Fletcher when we went to pick up the vehicle and have some scratches removed from the 3M servicing. I took my 2016 Santa Fe in this past weekend for the first oil change, which I was told would be a free service. Upon picking it up, I was told there was nothing in the file about any free service. Not having the time to argue for it, I paid and left. When I did leave, I found that windows were left down on my vehicle while it was sitting in the parking lot. Fortunately, it was a bright and sunny day (albiet -23 degrees) but if there was any snow inside my vehicle while it was sitting outside, there could be other problems and headaches to deal with. I entered the dealership to mention it to Jackie, the service associate, but know full well she had nothing to do with the problem. After these two experiences, I will not be returning to Calgary Hyundai. No amount of freebies could bring me back. I would rather pay to go somewhere else that has a higher attention to detail. More
