Do not buy a car hear if you want to save yourself some headaches or end up stranded. Our experience with Whitby Honda, specifically with Sales Manager Trevor Carew and Salesperson Suhail Khan, was very di headaches or end up stranded. Our experience with Whitby Honda, specifically with Sales Manager Trevor Carew and Salesperson Suhail Khan, was very disappointing. Vehicles sold here come with defects, and once the paperwork is signed, the sales manager will do everything possible to shift the blame. Read other negative reviews and you will see a pattern, we wish we had before going here and now regret it. What happened: Whitby Honda sold us a vehicle with a faulty battery that caused a serious safety issue, refuses to admit this so they don’t have to pay for replacement. We purchased a 2024 Honda HR-V Hybrid sold as Certified Pre-Owned from Whitby Honda. Meaning the dealership provided their certification to ensure there is no issues. Within two weeks, the car developed an electrical issue due to the faulty battery they had put, the car was shifting from Park to Neutral on its own and refusing to shut off, a major safety risk. Not to add, my dad had to wait 3+ hours early morning after a night shift in -30C temperatures because car would not shut down. How it was handled: We had the car towed to another dealer who confirmed Whitby Honda had installed a faulty battery before selling (provided test report with codes for bad battery). Despite providing a battery test report to Whitby Honda, Sales Manager Trevor Carew refused responsibility, questioned whether we caused the damage, and declined to replace the battery. They did their own generic battery test and say there is no issue which is hard to believe when another our second opinion form another Honda dealership has already confirmed that the battery acted abnormal for a new battery. We were even told not to bring the car back at Whitby Honda or do business with them. Outcome: We are now replacing the battery at our own cost for safety concerns. Once the sale was completed, customer service disappeared. It seem the“Certified” label provided by Whitby Honda offered no real protection or accountability and was just used to upcharge us for something we could have bought off Marketplace for a lot cheaper. Will be filing a complaint with Honda Canada and OMVIC and will not be doing my business here. The root cause of the safety issue was the faulty battery which Honda Dealership sold our certified car with and now does not want to take accountability. This was clear negligence on Whitby Honda which they refused and sales manager constantly tried to put the blame on us, the customer for the issue. It became clear that once the sale is completed, customer service at Whitby Honda no longer matters. I have since spoken with several people who visited this dealership and I found out they initially chose not to proceed due to how pushy and untrustworthy it felt. Upon sharing this story with my friends I found out one of my friends had also spoken to Trevor in the summer last year. He acted in the same as he did with my parents and was trying to finalize the deal the same day trying to get the deal done without really addressing their questions. My friend had found Trevors behaviour odd at the time and decided not to proceed with the dealership for the better. Only if I had discussed with my friends before coming to this dealership my family could have avoided this issue. Beware of the positive reviews as well, as these are forced. Customers are pushed to leave good reviews immediately after purchase (in our case the sales person Suhail even offered to write the review fro my parents on their behalf. My parents fell for their sales tactics like anyones parents would) Only after the sale you realize that the deal was not worth it once issues start appearing. Will not be doing business with this dealership again and strongly advise others to proceed with caution. More

Had to get it towed back to dealership at her own cost then is told by dealership it’s undri first car, buys a used suv from them drives 3 hrs total. Had to get it towed back to dealership at her own cost then is told by dealership it’s undriveable and it will cost $2700 to fix. You would think they would have covered the cost or at the very least covered the cost of labour. Do not buy a vehicle from them very shady. More

Lack of transparency, aggressive sales tactics, and overall unprofessional approach to sales. Went in to discuss options as I was looking to trade in my 2023 Honda CRV for something with a lower monthl overall unprofessional approach to sales. Went in to discuss options as I was looking to trade in my 2023 Honda CRV for something with a lower monthly payment. Zeenat Baig pushed towards a used Passport. Asked if I wanted to test drive it, took my phone and texted herself from it. Asked for my keys and did not disclose what that they were going to be looking it over, moving it, etc. Drove off-site for the test drive, did not explain where we were going, over the 10 minute drive to the other lot, disclosed personal information that made the drive awkward and uncomfortable. Upon arriving, the lot where the Passport was parked was locked to which Zeenat asked if I would be comfortable climbing under the locked gate. Once inside, the car battery was too low to get it started, the fob barely worked to locate the car. The car smelled and was parked too close to the car next to it to even access properly. Zeenat said they only had the car for three weeks, yet the battery in the car was too low to start. She drove us back to the dealership, and continued to push that I needed to sign for the car that day or else the deal she was offering was going to expire. She said that if I was to come back to the dealership that weekend, that she was not going to be able to get me a deal and that if I did not act quickly, the dealership was going to sell the car to another dealership on Monday (I was there on a Thursday evening). After explaining to her that I was not comfortable signing anything that night, she said that I would not get a better price for my car anywhere else in Ontario (yet would not disclose how much they would give me for my trade in) and that I should come back when I am "ready to spend more money" - all after I explained that my motive was to reduce my monthly costs. The hour and a half I spent there made it clear that the lack of transparency, aggressive sales tactics, and overall unprofessional approach to sales is what you should expect from Whitby Oshawa Honda. They are looking to make money at whatever the cost. More
Buying the vehicle was a good experience But when it comes to buying the extended warranty beware. They will tell you that it covers bumber to bumber except wear an tear items like light bulbs, brakes e comes to buying the extended warranty beware. They will tell you that it covers bumber to bumber except wear an tear items like light bulbs, brakes etc. But when it comes to actually trying to get warranty work done it is an entirely different story. I recently had a problem that I was quote about 4k to fix about 3200 in parts and 800 labour But when it came to having to repair done under my extended warranty it was declined. This was also declinded when escalated to Honda Canada although they did cover a portion of it. When I went back to my original documentation for warranty I checked the exclusions for my extended warranty surprise no where did it list the parts I needed . The best part is it listed parts for under $100 (light bulbs)but not my parts that cost over 3k. Do not buy extended warranty because when it comes to Large $$ repairs they will decline. DONT WASTE YOU MONEY. I recently bought a new vehicle and no way would Honda get my $$$. I bought from another manufacturer. More

Went to trade it in, not even a year later, to find out it had a branded title in the states. When trying to contact the dealership for their lack of disclosure, they were rude, ignorant, and unhelpful. They stated nothing is branded on the vehicle, that some kid in the states messed up, yet 2 dealerships have now declined the trade due to the clear Branded title from a states Carfax. We've made a formal complaint with OMVIC, have gotten a new vehicle and have this vehicle sitting in our driveway still being paid for because nowhere will take it. Oh, they also offered us 20k below what we have left on it stating that their lot is too full to be taking vehicles in. Complete xx. More
