I started out back in June talking to Cass about a Kia Seltos I wanted to buy for my wife as a surprise birthday present. I test drove the car and said I would be back in July when her Birthday came aroun Seltos I wanted to buy for my wife as a surprise birthday present. I test drove the car and said I would be back in July when her Birthday came around. He was very helpful, upfront, and pleasant to deal with. I came back in on Monday 7/21 and was told Cass was no longer employed so they put me with a different guy, Felix. He was nice, and I explained what I worked with Cass on. He went and found a Seltos that matched what I was looking for. However this had a dealer add on sticker with what they call "Kia Care which had a lot of extra items like tinted windows, ceramic paint coating, and several other items I did not not want, This all added $2,999 to the price. I told Felix I did not want these items and he said Ok no problem, he would leave this out of the deal. We went back inside and I told him I would work a deal if he would give me the out the door price which included, the price of the car, plus tax, title, license, doc fees, and dealer fees, minus any incentives. Well long story short, this is where the numbers games begun, and the lack of transparency started as well. After several attempts to get the true OTD price and I finally caved in and let him put my trade in the deal, things got really messy, but like an idiot I finally agreed on a bottom line price that i would finance the car for. Next thing you know I am in the finance office electronically signing all the financing papers and agreeing to bring my $10,000 deposit in when I bring my wife in 1 week to pick up her birthday present. Well I left and after going home and feeling uneasy about all the numbers, I tried running the number on serval auto loan calculators, and could only come up with they were charging me a huge amount of fees. The next morning I called the sales manager. I ask him to send me a copy of the worksheet with the OTD write up. He said no problem. By the end of the day nothing. The next day, I called him back, he said he wold look into getting it and call me back. I was running errands, so I drove down to the dealership. I ended up talking to the salesman and another sales manager. What i found out they had put the Kia Care in the deal then taken it out of the deal and snuck it back in by showing more money on my trade. funny math and underhanded sales tactics. Therefore, this is why they would not just spell out the OTD price as requested initially. I shook hands and walked away and will never buy a car there ever If they had just been transparent and agreed to the price I had requested which was more than fair based on my extensive planning and research, I would gladly have purchased the car.
