Please explain a "rod bearing failure". I took a perfectly fine vehicle, with approximately 8500 miles and 8 months old, into get an oil change and tire rotation, scheduled maintenance, and the next day, after 4:30 pm, my engine light is on and my oil light. Being told to bring the vehicle back, I did just that the next morning, being it was close to closing. Upon returning from service after dropping my car off and getting a Hyundai loaner I noticed oil everywhere. I tried to contact Hyundai for 2 days and nobody even talked with me until the following Wednesday. So when you say "keeping informed" that is far from the truth. My car has been in the shop for 3 weeks today and the only information I received was that I will be getting a "new" engine. My questions are why and what lead up to this? Why not just replace my car with a new one? I make monthly payments and I want Hyundai to reciprocate. I am paying on a vehicle much nicer than the loaner Hyundai provided. Lastly, Everytime time I speak to the Hyundai Consumer Services they talk about escalating this situation, which I am not sure what that means because there is a huge communication gap, and all the representatives say the reason is because I am requesting a "Buy Back", their words not mine. I just recently spoke to one very confused representative and he kept flip flopping about the escalation. When he mentioned the Buy Back again, I told him I don't even know what that is and nobody at Hyundai communicates anything. He said it has something to do with the Lemon Law. I then did my own discovery. I just hope that Hyundai is not using this to cover up the fact that they screwed up during a typical oil change. This is hanging heavy on me and is affecting my health. I am giving Hyundai every opportunity to make this right and they have not been able to comply.
