Mixed Experience, Proceed with Caution I've had some positive and some negative experiences with this dealer. I have brought two vehicles to them for service and purchased one new vehicle f I've had some positive and some negative experiences with this dealer. I have brought two vehicles to them for service and purchased one new vehicle from them. The service department is about what you expect from a dealer service department. The pricing for parts is marked up beyond belief, but all genuine Honda. The labor is expensive, but efficient, scheduled, and professional. I have found these folks to be generally friendly and honest, which is a lot more that I can say about some Honda service departments I have dealt with. I have never once had this service department try to up-sell me, push unnecessary services on me, or perform any work without my consent. So they are a dealer service shop in the best way: extremely expensive, but also very professional. My new car buying experience here was not so good. The sales rep (no longer with their team) was friendly and helpful, though not especially knowledgable. I wanted what I wanted and got no flexibility in price. I called around to some dealers in CT and MA and got a slightly lower price. I went back and was told Shearer could meet me half way with some dealer-installed options, and assured me that their "VIP" perks (free inspections for life!) would add value to the proposition in the long run. I got a whole song and dance about keeping it local, customer loyalty, etc., which sounded good to me. This proved foolish. At delivery the dealer-installed options they had sweetened the deal with were not installed. The costs of installing them were higher had been discussed ("oh, you wanted the required vehicle-specific mounting kit and two keys with that remote start? What we have in writing here is just for the remote starter alone!"), and would have introduced long delays for reasons no one could explain convincingly. I should have walked away, but at this point I'd been waiting four months for the vehicle, so I just swallowed it. I left feeling pretty icky. But I got over it quickly, being happy with the vehicle. Fast forward two years. Time for the second-ever free inspection, yay. But it turns out the "VIP" program is now kaput. No letter explaining the change, or even giving me a heads-up. I call the sales guys for an explanation and a rep tells me the general manager will get back to me momentarily. He never does. So, I thought this was a long-term customer loyalty thing, and I got a free oil change and an inspection, $45 value. Tried for a chat with the GM too, but apparently I don't rate. There's that icky feeling again. In my experience, this dealer is not trustworthy and does not appear interested in keeping their customers happy if it impacts their bottom line in the slightest. I won't be coming back. More

New Car No Worries I visited several dealerships before Shearer Honda in Rutland, Vermont and found pros and cons to each of them. As soon as I entered the Shearer lot, I visited several dealerships before Shearer Honda in Rutland, Vermont and found pros and cons to each of them. As soon as I entered the Shearer lot, I felt at ease. The salesperson, Matt Trombetta, was friendly and knowledgeable. I test drove two vehicles and decided on one. The financing and vehicle preparation went smoothly and now I am riding with great satisfaction. More

Great buying experience As a first time new car buyer I was nervous about how my buying experience would go. I was expecting pushy salesman that would try to sell me anything As a first time new car buyer I was nervous about how my buying experience would go. I was expecting pushy salesman that would try to sell me anything. At Shearer Honda and with Mike Galiano this was not the case. Mike was incredibly friendly and worked hard to get me the exact car I wanted without being pushy. One year later, I'm still incredibly happy with my car and the service I have received. When I'm ready down the road for my next new car I will definitely be shopping at Shearer again. More

A dealership you can count on Shearer Honda has consistently provided a calm, professional experience for me. This is the 4th car I've gotten from the same salesman. He has found Shearer Honda has consistently provided a calm, professional experience for me. This is the 4th car I've gotten from the same salesman. He has found just what I asked for even when it took some time. The service department operates smoothly and everyone is a pleasure to work with. I have completed confidence that any vehicle I get there is safe and in excellent condition. I have always been given as much time as I have wanted to drive and decide on a car before buying it. I will be back in a few years for my next one. More
