A Place to Buy a Vehicle The 5 star review is for John Howes the salesperson. I would rate the dealership itself 3 stars at best. Adequate with lots of room for improvement. First Impression: My wife and I walked into the show room and stood around for a good 20 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Meanwhile employees busily walked past lost in there own little worlds. We finally asked the girl at the sales desk if we could speak to a sales person, so she paged someone to come greet us. This was a really poor first impression. I've had better customer service buying a pair of socks. Salesperson: We were introduced to John Howes who was easy to deal with, and seemed very open and honest about everything. It felt like he was looking out for our interests as much as his. This sense of mutual fairness is often hard to find when buying cars, and it was refreshing. He worked with us to get the deal we wanted both on the new car, as well as our trade. While we didn't get the exact deal we wanted, we managed to get pretty close. Vehicle Delivery: I ordered a new vehicle that wasn't on the lot yet, and the delivery process was painfully slow. I ordered the car in October and finally received it January. It was nearly 90 days from purchase agreement to delivery. I was told it would likely be delivered by end of November (30 days). I received no updated ETA's and getting anything that resembled an update was difficult. I assume this is because Honda does not provide the necessary information to the dealership to allow them to provide proper status updates. Even rough ballpark estimates would have been better than the void of communication I received. "Hidden" Fees: This dealership has a standard $299 "Security Package" that they add to all deals. This package was never discussed with me, and I only found it later at home after I had signed the purchase agreement. This "Security Package" is essentially Global i VIN etching / tracking, and a set of locking wheel nuts which you can purchase virtually anywhere for about $30. This package provides virtually no value to me, and I would absolutely not elect to pay for the package had I been given the choice. I think it's disgusting that the dealership would force this package onto their customers. I'm sure it's a common practice, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Suggestions: - Greet people when they walk in the door - Get rid of the standard "Security Package" and offer it alongside the other add on's like fabric protection or rust proofing. If you can't sell it because it offer's no value, stop offering it. - Provide better customer updates regarding vehicle delivery ETA. If the discussed delivery day is approaching or elapsed, provide a simple update. Even if it's just "I'm looking into it" - Stop demanding favourable reviews, it's cheap and aggressive. Provide better customer service and favourable reviews will happen organically. Also, find a better way to quantify and measure sales person performance. More
