Initially I was very hopeful about this dealership. Doug was friendly to the point where it felt extremely superficial, but I didn't really mind. I was able to test drive two vehicles alone, which I appreciated.
However once I returned and we started discussing my trade-in things became extremely uncomfortable. I had already been to five other dealerships to have my vehicle appraised prior to this appointment, so I had a general idea of what I could expect to get in return for it. Doug was incredibly rude when evaluating my car, calling it "a poor kid's sports car" and that "he wouldn't touch it with a ten-foot pole." He also said that because my vehicle had been at auction at one point (I bought it used), there was clearly something wrong with it—which makes no logical sense whatsoever. I was ready to leave but he kept making things uncomfortable and wouldn't let me dismiss myself when I suggested that we were clearly going to be too far apart on a price. Furthermore, he wouldn't offer me a finance term longer than four years for a 2015 vehicle, which is just strange.
He ended up offering me $11,000 in trade, which was several thousand lower than what I had already been offered elsewhere in the city. To give you an idea of how ridiculous this offer was, I traded that same vehicle for $17,000 for a car of the same price point (but in better condition) only two days later. Save yourself the wasted time and discomfort and drive to one of the other Subaru dealers in the city.
