The new vehicle inventory shortage that continues to plague the US and Canada has increased prices. Vehicles are a hot commodity and American car dealers are especially struggling to keep inventories stocked. An unprecedented shortage of semiconductor chips has placed even further strain on the supply of most popular models in the US. US Wholesaler’s and Exporters, who see that many new models are selling well above MSRP, are using deceptive practices to buy vehicles through a straw buyer from Canadian dealers to resell in the US market. Unfortunately, straw buyers never intend to keep the vehicle they’re purchasing on behalf of a secret buyer. This practice exposes the Canadian dealership to potential fraud, damage and punitive fines. When during the course of discussing at the dealership the purchase of a new Expedition Max Platinum, it was revealed the buyer had no intention of keeping the SUV and planned to sell it. We were made aware of the wholesaler, and our sales manager made the decision to refuse to sell and refund the deposit after determining the straw buyer was purposely giving the salesperson and sales manager the impression of an enthusiastic customer independent of the seller for whom they were secretly working. Ford Canada restricts dealers from selling inventory to exporters. To get around it, a middle man is hired and sent in to buy the vehicle. Selling to an exporter is bad for our business because it violates the manufacturer agreement. There are many red flags, and if we even have any inkling that (a prospective buyer) is going to export/resell this vehicle, we just refuse to sell.

During the 2 1/2 years he has spent with Sherwood Ford he has had nothing but the best of clients share their experience with him with a high review rating of 4.9 on average, that speaks volumes for his character and integrity and the way in which he has given our guests only the best shopping experience possible. He is an asset to our dealership and to guests who have had the opportunity to be assisted by him. Just as current market demand for used vehicles are at record levels, and vehicle owners are getting record values for a trade-in, new vehicle demand combined with supply-chain issues has also created a market shortage, resulting in price increases. In case you hadn’t noticed, the same is reflected in all manufactured goods like electronics, food, gasoline, shipping, etc due to the pandemic. The Manufacturers Suggested Retail Prices have historically been market adjusted, and as in the past the dealer may have sold for less, in todays market the dealer may sell for more. Our advertised sale price is plus GST. By the way, where there would typically be several hundred trucks available, there are currently four Super Duty trucks in our inventory. The elimination of virtually all Manufacturer rebates and other volume discounted incentives are also resulting in increased prices for vehicles, and consumers pay more with higher interest rates for borrowing. Many Customers find value in added products that are proven to be effective at protecting and maintaining the long-term value of a vehicle and its appearance. Put it as you have above, it’s still gouging. I currently have a super duty on back order and waiting for it to arrive, very much the same spec as the one you have, and when it was ordered the price in the contract we agreed to was $84k plus gst. So you can justify charging $21,000 more just to be able to get into a truck today? I will patiently wait for my build, 21k in my pocket is 1/4 of my vehicle cost.

Hi again, We've doubled checked the pricing on our website that shows the MSRP advertised on our lowest priced Super Duty at 97,044 matches the Ford Window Sticker MSRP, and it does. Also, as advertised, the accessories added for 5,524, for a total sale price, excluding GST, at 102,568. Add in tax and you're total price comes to 107,696.40. Ford Canada has no incentives, rebates or delivery allowances that would reduce the price, and there are no further discounts as already outlined in our previous reply. We're sorry we simply cannot "match" your factory order. We don't know the details of the "factory order" you may have done with another Ford dealer, but it's helpful to know that the incentives/offers that were available at that time of a factory order are simply not available now to any other Ford dealer. We understand the frustration of having to wait for a back order of your truck, but again as we iterated in our previous reply, the pandemic has left dealers in an extreme shortage situation, so availability of trucks is an ongoing concern, and looks to be here with us for some time to come yet. By the way, as of today, we now have 3 Super Duty trucks available. We offered the truck at MSRP plus the added accessories. This is not gouging, it's simply the reality of purchasing a vehicle in this given market and situation we're faced with.
