Hello, Thank you for providing a review of your experience. We always welcome customer feedback even if it is not the type of feedback we would prefer. Having said that, their are some statements in your review that need to be addressed. Regarding your assessment of Black Book values, you appear to not have considered the Black Book value of the Fusion you were interested in buying. Black Book on that Fusion shows a wholesale value of $19,684 and a retail value of $23,086. Yet our advertised price is only $19,220 on that car. If you choose to believe what Black Book says, how can you claim that we are making 3-4K on the car when we are selling it well below wholesale? So how accurate is Black Book? The fact is that Black Book is highly inaccurate for our local market. The reason is that Black Book values are based only on Toronto auction values. That market is wildly different than Alberta's, especially for trucks and SUVs. This is the reason that virtually no Alberta dealerships use Black Book to appraise trades. Because we mainly sell Ford products we always seek advice on non-Fords from outside experts. After checking into this matter, I determined that the manager based his trade-in number on what the Jeep experts told him. Now, was your trade-in offer the best you could get? Maybe, maybe not. Some civil discussion could have determined that. Which brings up the next point in your review. Rather than confronting the sales manager as you assert, apparently you walked in and grabbed your keys while he was on the phone. There was no discussion, let alone a confrontation. I can understand being upset when things don't go the way you expect. However, a quick look at the reviews on this site shows that there are not many dealerships that treat customers as well as we do. Questioning our ethics over a trade value seems like a bit of an over-reaction. As I mentioned, I can't help but think that a few minutes of polite conversation would have led to a different result. Again, thank you for your feedback. If there is anything that I can do for you please don't hesitate to contact me. Regards, Blaine Plester Marketing Manager

Thanks for the response, but this seems to be a standardized and practiced response to what must be a common issue for you. You low-balled. I know this because i know what the dealership i got it from bought it for 3 months ago and i know what the dealership i sold it to today bought it for. ~20k! As for my reluctance to discuss with your staff, it is clear from your starting point that there was little room for reasonable pricing. When someone tries to sandbag you for around 5000 dollars i think even you would feel a need to cut the discussion short. A fine attempt at rationalizing the incident, but my outward disgust and short words at your working business model (more PC than ethics) does not absolve you of these simple facts. Don't distract the real issue...you got greedy.

I am willing to drop the negative review and comments for a simple apology regarding trying to lowball my trade in value.

We are certainly sorry that this incident has upset you. That is obviously never our intention. Trade values on used vehicles are not absolute. They are subject to opinion. You could get twenty different trade amounts from twenty different stores. We do our best to get advice and solicit bids on off-make vehicles from outside sources. In this case, our source apparently had less desire for your trade than the people you eventually sold it to. It's great that you were able to get what you wanted for it. We sincerely hope you enjoy your new vehicle and we understand if you want to let your review stand.
