My mom took her Toyota in for a free seasonal tire change (part of a dealership promo), and while she was there alone, they tried to upsell her on a $1,500 brake job and a $200 wheel alignment. The invoice claimed her brake pads were down to 2mm, and a mechanic even ran after her to push the service. When she got home, I inspected the brakes myself and then had a certified dealership mechanic (a trusted friend) take a look. He confirmed the pads were over 5mm with at least 30,000 km of life left. I also took photos to document the condition. This wasn’t a casual recommendation, it was a scare tactic based on false information. It’s especially concerning that they targeted someone who came in alone and isn’t familiar with car maintenance. When I left a review, they tried calling us afterward, which felt more like an attempt to pressure us into removing it than genuine customer service. If you plan to visit this dealership, always get a second opinion before agreeing to any major service. This experience showed me they prioritize sales over honesty. More
