Hello Ray, you were on your way from Alaska to south of the 49th parallel when your diesel engine failed. There is no value in a 2004 diesel truck if it doesn't have a working diesel engine. I am sorry that your truck let you down and you were put in a position that you had to purchase, but no matter if it had new components or not, an older diesel truck without a working diesel engine does not have resale value.
