The whole process of purchasing a new car from Capilano Audi was a great experience. Communication, product knowledge, & patience by all at this dealership was greatly appreciated. A special thanks to Chris Bong who listened to my requirements (which changed a few times) with great patience. Also, he spent over an hour with my wife and me upon delivery of the Q5 explaining the electronics of the SUV, A week later, having forgot some of the things that he told us, he made himself available to answer questions we had about the car in a clear, knowledgeable manner. I recently had a dispute with Capilano Audi about deficiencies with a pre-owned car. The dispute was resolved several weeks later, when I accepted a flexible credit to buy another vehicle from a diff deficiencies with a pre-owned car. The dispute was resolved several weeks later, when I accepted a flexible credit to buy another vehicle from a different Dilawri dealership. The background to this dispute from my perspective begins when I bought a 2011 Acura MDX Elite on October 22, 2022. Within the first few days and weeks, I had to deal with a series of maintenance and mechanical problems including: a) transmission; b) water leaks, c) vibrating/grinding brakes, and 4) an unknown suspension issue. At the same time, I took the car to be checked by an independent mechanic, to protect my own interest. During the dispute, the dealership disagreed with me and my mechanic, about specific deficiencies. I had to be persistent for the dealership to fix some of the problems at their cost. As a result, I lost confidence in the car and increasingly frustrated with the dealership’s response to my concerns. I returned the vehicle on November 15, 2022, and filed a complaint with the Vehicle Sales Authority. Capilano Audi took the position that the car was safe to drive and all my concerns have been addressed. I had no right to break the sales contract or return the car for a full refund. My position was that I have the legal right to return the vehicle, since it was not roadworthy at the time of the sale. In addition, I argued there was a misrepresentation about the vehicle in the contract, since the dealership’s inspection failed to detect several existing deficiencies. In response, I was offered two options: 1) exchange the vehicle for another one at Capilano Audi; or 2) accept a credit for the purchase of another vehicle at Capilano Audi. Initially, I demanded a full refund. But, I also continued to talk with the sales manager to resolve the conflict. Subsequently, I negotiated a more flexible form of credit, which could be used at other Dilawri dealerships. After I searched the Dilawri web site, Capilano Audi made arrangements, on December 10, 2022, for me to buy a 2016 Acura MDX from Mercedes-Benz North Vancouver. My mechanic and I both like this car.
