Tire fiasco The problem started when I ordered as set of Michelin LTX tires for my Explorer. I had to order the tires because supposedly CCF did not stock tires The problem started when I ordered as set of Michelin LTX tires for my Explorer. I had to order the tires because supposedly CCF did not stock tires to fit my Explorer. So far so good. CCF picked up my vehicle at my home, installed tires and returned the vehicle to my home. I went out to look at the tires the next day and found that they were not what I ordered but were TOYO tires. I called the service manager and he assured me that TOYO tires were far superior to the Michelin tires so I should leave them on the vehicle. It turns out that it was my mistake to believe the service manager. The tires had a thumping noise at highway speeds so CCF re-balanced them a week later. The noise persisted so I went back again and was told "that's as good as it gets". Fast forward three years and numerous discussions with the service department - I had the tires road force balanced once again and still had the thumping noise. I returned the vehicle to CCF to diagnose the problem yet again. I was told once more "that's as good as it gets". I also had a very slow bead leak that was supposedly repaired 15/FEB/17. The repaired leak persisted - dropping to 24psi by 20/APR/17. Chris had the leak repaired at no charge. By June 05 the tire had again dropped to 24psi. Upon checking all 4 tires I found that the remaining 3 had been dramatically overinflated -RF 44psi, LF 39psi, LR 39psi. In summary... How did CCF just happen to have a set of probably defective TOYO tires in stock when they were adamant that they did not stock tires to fit my vehicle? How many times should I have to take my vehicle back for the same bead leak? Will overinflating tires reduce the thumping noise? The thumping noise is still there at speeds around 100Km/hr. CCF has been my exclusive dealership for 25 years. I'd like to give them a 5star rating for service but this fiasco prevents me from doing so. They are excellent at solving obvious problems but disastrous at solving issues which require even a little detective work. More
