In June 2021, I gave this service department 1 star for a terrible service experience. BUT - today I went in for an intermittent issue with an indicator light. They have definitely upped their game and s terrible service experience. BUT - today I went in for an intermittent issue with an indicator light. They have definitely upped their game and spent time on the car. In the end, it was really my issue as I had installed an aftermarket wind mirror and it leaks - causing an electrical short. They reviewed the situation and provided excellent feedback and they were 'generous' with the pricing for the time taken. Much appreciated - hope to use them in the future. More

1 STAR IS BEING GENEROUS! (SERVICE DEPT BEWARE) Reason for Visit-Check Coolant light on/Extended Warranty Walked into Barrie VW and told the service dept my Coolant light (SERVICE DEPT BEWARE) Reason for Visit-Check Coolant light on/Extended Warranty Walked into Barrie VW and told the service dept my Coolant light was on, a diagnostic test needed to be done but not to worry, they would “take care of me”. 2 hours later, I get a call from the service dept from J. Landry. He stated that the issue was that my water pump would need to be replaced do to a leak from the weep hole and bearing. I was told this was all covered by my extended warranty which relieved me. I was also advised that they needed to order the part and my car could be there for a few days so they could complete the repair. 3 hours later I get another call from J. Landry stating after yet another inspection, the mechanic noticed that “the car was in a front end collision causing excessive damage which was sustained to the radiator and rad saddle which caused the rad saddle to break off causing further damage to the radiator which is now also leaking from the bottom of the rad”. Due to this being caused by what they call a “collision” the water pump could not be repaired through warranty unless I paid out of pocket to fix my radiator first, a $3,041.11 charge. My car has never been in a collision of any sort. Not understanding why I was being accused of being in a collision, I went down to the dealership right away. I wanted to understand what proof they had that my vehicle was in a collision. They had my vehicle on the hoist and showed me the “excessive damages”. The excessive damage they were referring to were 3 light scratches underneath my front-end bumper, which to me, looked very similar to a key scratch. At this point, we were also showed that the rad was loose. I was not shown a leak of any sort from the water pump or radiator. They did not put pressure into the system nor was I shown where the leaks were coming from. I was told that they had photographs and that these photographs would be shared with me via email (said by J. Landry) or sent to me via text message (said by P. Black). I still have yet to see/receive these photos as promised. I spoke to an A. Mitchell (warranty) who said she would try to submit the photos through warranty to see if they would still cover the water pump. Leaving my vehicle at the dealership once again. I kept having to call into the dealership for updates and for the final resolution. I spoke with P. Black who is the service manager. She said that the warranty will not cover anything because my car was in a collision. Feeling very upset and frustrated at this point because once again, I am being told that my car has been in a collision which it was not. I was provided with a print out of how much it would cost to repair both the Radiator ($3,041.11) and water pump ($1,389.34). I purchased extended warranty to avoid these expenses to our family and now, I am being told I cannot use my extended warranty because my vehicle was in a “collision”. I had to get my vehicle towed out of Volkswagen because I do not trust them at this point. Car was towed to our home. Upon my husband looking under the hood, he notices that the dealership did not replace all my car parts prior to releasing the vehicle to CAA so now we end up towing the vehicle back to Barrie VW to grab our missing car parts. This shows me how unreliable their mechanic/ service team is. We end up getting all our car parts put back into our vehicle with no apologies but excuses. Long story short, I then tow my vehicle to another VW dealership who diagnosed my vehicle only leaking from the water pump and not the rad which was all covered under warranty. They fixed my car within hours. No other issues to my vehicle. To be quite honest I think your Dealership is double-dipping. You guys are putting it through warranty but yet flipping the customer a bill to also pay out of pocket which in turn, I’m sure many customers take your mechanics word for it, and go ahead with repairs. General Manager not helpful. BEWARE! More

Horrible expierence. I took a couple days to post this, as it's never good to write an honest review in the heat of the moment. Here's what happened. Salesperson wa I took a couple days to post this, as it's never good to write an honest review in the heat of the moment. Here's what happened. Salesperson was great, feel as if management didn't want her to make a sale. This is where it goes south. Our car was scrutinized while the model we were looking at had many noticeable issues (obvious covered up tailgate damage, rust, and interior damage) which the used car manager had no idea of, quoting it as "curious". No negotiations on price (1k away from closing a deal), and when the price dropped 1k (1 day later - on auto trader) we reached out and they wouldn't honor the price advertised, noting it as "an error". They even said, and I quote: "...we look like idiots now." Upon expierencing this, we went to the Newmarket VW dealership where we were told our car was "a bit of a celebrity" and lowballed the value of our vehicle by less than half of comparable models currently being sold in the same year/milage. Can't help but feel this came from the Barrie Dealership for whatever reason. We were not asking for an unreasonable amount for our vehicle, based on market value (approx sale price - less 5k). We even had to find a comparable vehicle ourselves and send them a link. Apparently the used car sales manager was unable to find a comparable vehicle, matching a fully loaded model. I could honestly go on and on, I just want to warn people before they shop here. Read all the reviews, good and bad. The bad ones seems very similar.. how "curious". I hope Barrie Volswagon reads this review and takes a step back to re-evaluate how they define customer service. More
