Hi Harper Family - I was saddened to read your post today. This is the first time we've received feedback like this about our company or one of our staff. It sounds like we had a major breakdown in process that day, for that I apologize. Would you be willing to spend some time on the phone with me? I'd like to know more about what transpired to ensure it isn't repeated.

Hello again Harper Family, I wanted to take a moment to understand and resolve your complaint. Public comments like yours are hurtful, both to myself personally and to the business we are trying hard to build. Mistakes do happen, we are not perfect, but we do strive to learn and improve from them - and we certainly go out of our way to correct them. Are you open to letting us make this right?

Auto Show Sales & Finance responded

Hi, not asking you to change your review - you've left an accounting of your experience which of course is your right. It sounds like you were really offended by one of my staff and pretty clearly feel you and your family weren't treated well. To clarify, my objective in reaching out to you was firstly to apologize and try to make it up to you (unfortunately can't change the past). And secondly to learn more about your interaction so I can deal with the staff involved appropriately.

I am not interested in changing my review. It was 100% honest and correct. If your staff cannot treat EVERY customer like a WORTHY customer, then you need to train your staff better. I would not buy a vehicle from your dealership after being treated like garbage. I have great credit and a good amount of cash put way to buy a car, however, I don't think I need to spend over $10,000 to get a safe, reliable, plain-Jane car. I don't appreciate my family being treated the way they were treated. To state that a $9000 car was something that is not worthy of some sort of warranty by your dealership is ludicrous. The salesperson suggested we buy the car with all its problems, then spend $5000 on a warranty. Why wouldn't I just take my money and buy a $14000 car with a warranty at a better dealership? Then to imply that the mechanical problems with the car were somehow either our fault (the seats would not move forward before my kids even got IN the car, so even if they took a dump truck and dumped gravel under the seats, the seats should have still moved forward before they got in!) or we were too stupid to understand the operation of a motor vehicle... I mean, what can I change about that? I have six kids. I have owned three vehicles in the last fifteen years. I know how to operate air conditioning in the front and the back. I know how to tune a radio, and how to work the fader/balance. I have a university education. Just because I choose not to wear makeup and dress all fancy does not mean I have no money. It is a personal preference. Don't judge a book by its cover. If you want to build your company's reputation, then get your staff on board. Every customer is worth the effort. No customer should be condescended to or blamed for the shortcomings of a vehicle in your stock. Roaring off when you don't make a sale on a crappy car is not an appropriate response for a professional salesperson. Instead of asking me to change my review, why don't you change your staff's attitudes? Good luck with that, and I wish you no ill will.

Hi Harper Family, Thank you for the compliments on the facility, and happy to hear your children enjoyed the popcorn. We were however very disappointed to read about the remainder of your experience. As you indicated by reading the rest of our reviews, the overwhelming majority of our customers leave the dealership extremely satisfied with their decision to visit. This is the first time we’ve received feedback like yours. I apologize that you feel you were treated abruptly, it certainly was not our intent. We want to learn from every experience, and even though I wasn’t present for any of the interaction, we will endeavor to use this to improve communication in word and in action. The offer I extended via private message to resolve your complaint will always be open should you choose to take me up on it. In the meantime, I do want to publicly address some of the misunderstandings articulated in your review. When a used vehicle is purchased for inventory there are a wide range of cosmetic and mechanical tasks required to bring it up to our standards. The older the vehicle, typically the longer the list. This reconditioning process can take time, especially if parts like a power mirror need to be ordered. Some customers can look past these items in the interim knowing they have yet to be corrected, some cannot. In your case it sounds like we’d have been better served to simply say the vehicle was unavailable for viewing. In regards to your children possibly tracking dirt in to the vehicle. I believe the message from the consultant was that the middle-row seats were not sliding due to built up sand in the tracks. Likely from the ten years of prior ownership and kids getting in and out, not from your kids. It is a common issue with older Acadias and requires a thorough disassembly and cleaning to correct, again all things that are done as part of our reconditioning process. Lastly, I wanted to correct the comment regarding warranties and exchange privileges. Our ultimate goal is always a happy customer, we go above and beyond every day to make that happen. We have exchanged vehicles when they weren’t the right choice, repurchased vehicles when life circumstances have changed, and warrantied vehicles long after the manufacturer has chosen not to. We do this even when a customer has opted not to purchase an extended service contract. If you had a major area of concern for future repairs and wanted to purchase a policy, we would have been happy to work with you to find an option that fit your budget. The costs of which start as low as a few hundred dollars, not five thousand. I hope this clears up some of the misunderstandings in your visit. We do strive to deliver an exceptional experience for everyone, every time. As I mentioned last week, I’d be open to connecting by phone instead of email to address any other outstanding issues you may have; I’ve provided my direct line should you choose to accept. Sincerely, Joe Kupfer Dealer Principal - Auto Show Sales & Finance
