DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT
I'm unsure if the staff here are incompetent or shifty.
Either way...
Had my vehicle towed here in March of last year after the engine wouldn't turn over. explained that I have an extended warranty - was told by tech Derik, no, I don't. Was then given a quote for $1500 to fix. Warranty was mentioned again, and also sent a copy of it to them, and then I agreed to the fix and figured I would just take it up with warranty later.
Was then told part was in the states and would take a couple weeks to get.
I wait two weeks, no call. I call 3 weeks in, nobody takes OR RETURNS my call. After another week of unanswered calls, I go in, only to be told by Michael Corbett that the part would be in shortly, and that nobody has returned my call because it is a new building and the phone systems don't work well.
After another week, I escalate. Ask Manager Pamela Graham to call me. When she doesn't call or return my emails, I escalate with VW Canada. That gets her attention. Proceeds to tell me that the techs have been "attempting to reach me multiple times" (not true)
I take time off to go in find out what is going on with my vehicle (as again, nobody takes phone calls) and to find out when I can expect work to be completed.
I am met with pass the buck attitude from Michael and confrontation from Pamela.
This dealership ended up having my car for 7 months(!!) before they diagnosed the issue and made my car run again.
Warranty people did their job and made sure that most of the $4000 bill Oakville VW first issued me was correctly taken care of.
HOWEVER - When I finally picked it up, it still wasn't running properly and In December I reached out again as the engine light was on and it, again, was running in limp mode. When nobody returned my emails, I had to take it to a dealership further away to finally have it fixed enough that I can use it.
As mad as I've been about the whole experience, I hadn't written a review. I write one now ONLY because I recently took my vehicle into a different dealership - and the service I got was MILES ahead of what Oakville VW can only hope to be. This dealership listened to me, checked into my history with the vehicle, and communicated with me all the information that I asked for.
I could write a full novel of the failings of Oakville VW's service department, but if you've read this far, you get the picture.
Simply put, you're better off having your car serviced at the wreckers. You'd actually have a chance of getting it back in better shape.
