Overall, my historical experience with Cobb County Toyota is positive. We’ve purchased 2 cars from the dealership, most recently in February 2024, and all general maintenance continues to be handled by the C is positive. We’ve purchased 2 cars from the dealership, most recently in February 2024, and all general maintenance continues to be handled by the Cobb Toyota service department. Due to a great tire promo, I recently reserved/purchased tires via the website to be installed 4/30/2024. Typically I purchase tires from a local warehouse club but since the promo was running I decided to give the dealership a try. Overall, the tires were installed and we are as happy as can be considering its “just tires.” The efforts made by the tech Costas to sell us on an alignment leaves much room for improvement/training. This isn’t the first time we’ve purchased new tires before, generally we do seek to complete an alignment, and depending on where a customer goes to have this service checked/completed there’s a different approach to the customer. I’ve been at some shops where they check the specs, setting the car up for an alignment, only to see that it really isn’t needed, saving this customer money. In the case of Cobb Toyota, it was clear that this is not the policy of the dealership and a customer says “yes” to an alignment and whether it’s needed or not, the customer receives a report as to the specs before/after the service at that time. This customer was left to decide if it was worth paying money for something that might or might not be needed, and during the decision making process was advised by the tech that “the guys” really need to know our decision so they can go if needed (I was assuming that meant go home for the day). I shared with the tech that we don’t want to hold anyone up, to skip the alignment, and we’d figure it out. The next sentence after hearing we weren’t interested was that we actually did have time to think it over…. Ultimately we held off on the service based on the way it was all handled and it was clear that the tech wasn’t happy about the decision based on the short snippy experience during checkout. When we reflect on the situation, the overall pushy tactic was over $129 alignment that might or might not have been needed. Again out of habit we generally do an alignment when we purchase tires elsewhere, but we just couldn’t do it based on the approach. It was a stereotypical “car salesman” like approach and truly uncalled for based on the professionalism we know that exists of all reps and salesman we have done business with at the dealership since 2014 and most importantly we dropped under $600 for tires and we were being strong armed for another $129 of all things. We absolutely will continue to visit the dealership for routine service based on historical experiences but will certainly reconsider other services regardless of promos if squeezing $129 out of a customer is truly that important. Again, it’s a learning experience and hopefully will be addressed as such. Thank you. More
