Honest but amateurish - be vigilant Having bought many new and used cars over the years I'm a little cynical when it comes to car dealerships and usually for good reason. My first de Having bought many new and used cars over the years I'm a little cynical when it comes to car dealerships and usually for good reason. My first dealings with Capital were when I took my Grand Cherokee in for servicing. It actually went extremely well so based on the strength of that first interaction, when they called to remind me of an upcoming requirement, I jumped on the chance to repeat my initial experience. The second time didn't go nearly as well. As I left the dealership after servicing I noticed that my engine light was still on and I also had a running light out. This was a bit of a surprise since they had just done an oil change. I parked the vehicle, went back to service and explained what happened. We booked an appointment for two days away to deal with these two missed things and get my winter tires installed. 2 days later when I went back at 7 AM, I decided to wait rather than head into the office because it was only going to be a couple of hours. At the 5 hour mark I was informed that the tire balancing machine had broken down and no one had bothered to inform me. At this point I had some harsh words to say and was given a loaner so I could salvage the remainder of my work day while the machine was repaired. At the end of the day when back to pick up the car, the steering wheel was dirty and gritty, something I expect from a home mechanic not a dealer. Additionally after some driving it was clear to me that the tires were out of balance. I called and was told to bring the car back for express service to get the tires re-balanced. That's going to happen tomorrow. I brought my son with me during the first service visit and he ended up buying a car. He wanted a black one from the website inventory and was told there were no black models for sale so he bought a blue one instead. On my service visit two days later, when they gave me a loaner to drive it was the very same vehicle (stock #'s matched) my son had been told was not available. When I called the dealership to ask if the loaner I was driving was for sale they said yes. What followed was a couple of days of he said/she said over the availability of the car which as it turns out was in fact available. In the end my son decided to to stick with the blue one rather than risk trying to switch vehicles. It was dark when my son picked up his new car a few days later. At the first stop he made in a brightly lit parking lot on the way home he spotted paint damage on the driver's side quarter panel. He spent two days trying to get someone to talk to him about getting this resolved and then it was Christmas. As of today this is still not resolved. To be fair, they do seem to try hard and appear to be quite honest but the place is a hot sweaty mess to deal with and it's just not a positive experience having to invest so much time and effort into what really should be routine transactions. I've asked for the GM's contact info to discuss. No response so far. Again, it's Christmas so I hope to hear back tomorrow. I'm really on the fence with these guys but if what I'm seeing is representative of how things work, at this point don't see myself buying my next new car here. I may go back for service but just double check everything after every visit. More

Exceptional Service - This team know how to retain business 6 months ago I purchased a brand new jeep from Capital Dodge. This week I had an appointment to get my winter tires put on and my summer tires stored 6 months ago I purchased a brand new jeep from Capital Dodge. This week I had an appointment to get my winter tires put on and my summer tires stored for the season (I want to note that storing wheels was not a service I even knew they had, but Wendy made sure to share this with me when I called and booked which I was super happy about). When I was loading my tires into the back of the jeep I flipped up the soft top back window and the plastic window cracked! I was so disappointed, this jeep is less than a year old and a replacement is not cheap. When I was waiting for my winter tires to be installed I was sadly pricing a new back window and the parts and accessories guy, Brian recommended I ask about warranty. So I asked Dana, my Service Dep't guy, who referred me to Kyle, the Service Manager. I was very sceptical that I would receive positive feedback given the nature of problem and inability to prove how the crack happened. Kyle came out and took a look at the window and although he was also super doubtful that they would be able to send the window back as a warranty return, his immediate answer was "we are going to get you a new back window, we are going to help you with this". I know that this was 100% a good will/customer service act and that Capital Dodge will likely absorb this cost because windows are nearly impossible to warranty. In a world where "No" is way more common than "Yes", this blew my mind. I have not received service comparable to what these three gentlemen provided for me this week. Service like this is what makes an impression and forges bonds between customers and the team who are the face of the business. Before this out of this world amazing experience I had no loyalty to any one dealership in the Ottawa Valley, but I will now absolutely continue going back to service my Jeep, and to buy a new one when the time comes. Not much wiggle room on price, but they had the car that I wanted so I bought it. When I got to the finance part of the car I was hit with a bunch of hidden fees... now I’m not naive, I understand admin/registration etc. They charged me to fill up the car, they tried to sell me a $6k insurance policy (without my permission), undercoat fee, tire insurance and the list actually goes on. It wasn’t until I threatened to walk out that he would take off the fees that were “optional”. It was over 13k in hidden costs. He didn’t try and inform me of the costs at all, he simply said sign at the bottom for your new car. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALERSHIP!!! They will try to hustle you as soon as they have you locked in. More

The first friendly face I saw was Shannon. I was delighted to find out she was a salesman and went on to have the best car-buying experience ever. At one point she brought over another salesman, presumably because he thought she needed a hand. Guys - Shannon has got this, maybe you should be bringing her over to meet your clients instead, you'd probably sell more cars. More

The main issue related to the passenger heat turning to MAX at start. This is obviously a frustrating experience to spend that much time with a brand new vehicle and dealing with the shuttle to get into/from work, but the team I worked with were very helpful. They continued to troubleshoot the issue and keep digging for a solution and even kept the vehicle for 2,3 and 4 days after the fix to test for repeat issues. Ultimately, Chrysler Canada was looped in and the service team started working with them to do additional troubleshooting. Near the end, Chrysler said they had nothing left to do and suggested that I just wait until they do a software update sometime in the near future. This is where Kyle got involved as I was unwilling to accept that as resolution. Kyle was friendly, understanding and helpful. I appreciate that he listened very well as I had made several suggestions for possible troubleshooting, which he ultimately proposed to Chrysler Canada and they accepted and authorized them to be done. Incidentally, one of the fixes I proposed which was originally expressed to be impossible - resolved the issue in the end. I now have my brand new vehicle back and all 4 original issues were corrected. Also, I wanted to thank Darrin(?) - the tech who worked on my vehicle extensively. He put in more time than he needed to on this and looked for solutions to the problem that I suspect someone without his experience would have been able to. Thank you everyone! More
