In the end, the dealership came through ... I found the truck on AutoTrader.com. I contacted the dealership and was answered by Sean. My son applied for the loan (he had a 710 credit score), w I found the truck on AutoTrader.com. I contacted the dealership and was answered by Sean. My son applied for the loan (he had a 710 credit score), was told the payment would be under $250 and that was with GAP. We negotiated the downpayment and was told Sam was conditionally approved. My daughter had to pick up my son/her brother and her fiance and we all drove an hour from difference places to get to the dealership. We get to the dealership and my son falls in love with the truck, we had two people check it out mechanically, and we were ready to close the deal. The Finance Manager tells my son to come back to his office and I and my daughter followed. Sam is given two keys and then the bomb dropped -- his payment was going to be $285 w/13% interest rate and no GAP. We gave back the keys and were leaving. I aggressively objected to the rate, payment and no GAP. Pete told me to give him 10 minutes and came back with exactly what we wanted. We still do not understand why we were put through the stress in the first place, but my son is very happy with his purchase. More
